Final weekly report of season #8
They say all roads lead to Rome and the Pin Pal's certainly took the crazy road to reach the championship is this first season of 6-players team.
While Kara&Herbs and the Peanuts were having comfortable lead in first 2 places and squared off in the final meeting of the season, the Pin Pal's decided to take a leap over the 2 favorite by scoring 22.5 pts in one of the biggest blowout of the history of this league. Fully deserved, cause the other team did play decent, it's not like someone handed all these points to them for free.
I guess the turning point of the season for them were the first 2 weeks. I said here multiple times, they were unlucky in the first 2 weeks, being the best team in total both weeks and earning only 22 pts total after 2 weeks. It should have been 30 pts minimum and it's just like they kept these 8 bonus points for the grand final. They were not affected by the slow start on leaderboard and will close the season with a 7-1-1 record. Congrats to all the team! And the whole team is the All-Star team of the week! There's no other way to end this.
1️⃣Materialization -75 4-pts 2️⃣Hynis24 -70 4-pts 3️⃣morrisseymb -52 4-pts 4️⃣HEYEFFYOUBUDDY -56 3.5 pts 5️⃣SlicetoSkratch -52 3-pts 6️⃣Hauss_77 -51 4-pts
That's it for season #8. Now it's time for the SOTS cup. Our battlefield will be Victory Crossing. I thought it was a pretty easy course, but very early completed results from random players I see tells me it's not gonna be a walk in the park. I expect it's a medium difficulty for the CC standards.
And that's it for me too, hope you had fun reading this and I wish good fun to the one that will take my place. Will be available for questions or suggestions if needed.
Thanks, have fun and good luck!

I won't be able to meet the deadlines for this week unfortunately. However I'm in for next season. Just to clear up any possible confusion. The deadlines for individual rounds are for next week if you qualify for the match play. This week the "deadline" is Saturday 11:59 PM GMT like usual.

Dear Happy Tee Friends, in particular, dear Season 9 captains InsanericK morrisseymb mavhockey19 corey bmells33 scottiewalnuts rundownman6 SMIFFYLFC79 Welcome to the Season 9 draft! As in previous iterations, the entire draft procedure will be supervised by our Surly Supervisor Art Vandelay . Art, thank you so much for your repeated availability, which underlines the total integrity of this exercise. Let me start by reminding you of your duties as HTF-captain: - Draft players. For this, you only need to write a PM to the Surly Supervisor Art Vandelay containing your draft picks. This PM should include 5 lists (one for each draft pool you don't belong to), where you rank all available players within the respective draft pool from 1st choice to last choice. - Choose a team name. For this, you simply communicate the chosen team name in this thread. - (Optional) Set up a team chat. And here are the draft pools (the 10 captains are not eligible and hence in red): Pool 1 | Pool 2 | Pool 3 | Pool 4 | Pool 5 | Pool 6 | Collins | C. Moore | Breeding | Anderegg | Aerts | Baker | Floppernick | Gwyn | Bryan | Beaudry | Baldwin | Cheghall | Horan | Hashimoto | Couturier | Branca | Classon | Engels | Hynönen | Melissen | Everard | Cassino | Jones | Hanevik | Löfström | Millette | Hawks | Clark | Lasko | Musselman | Pansegrau | Pinn | J. I will set up and communicate the turn order of captains for each draft pool in a separate post. Of course, you can send your draft priority lists independently of that right now already. Finally, here's the detailed timeline for the draft: This week: - until Wednesday May 25: captains submit their choices via PM to the draft supervisor Art Vandelay (the sooner the better) - until Thursday May 26: communication of the teams - until Saturday May 28: captains set up their team chats (optional) and communicate the name of their team Cheers, The Happy Secretariat

Good evening ladies and gentlemen! Your new press guy is here to provide the first write up of (soon to start) season 9! With some hours left until the start of week 1, I thought I'd ease myself into this position and make a formal introduction. So hi there, my name's Tomi and you shall be witnessing weekly writeups from me from this season onwards, hoping to adequately fulfill the massive shoes left behind for me to get into.
First of all, writer's congratulations on another fantastic SOTS Cup held at the Mangawhai Beach. It came down to the wire, and the final was certainly worth watching live, with all the drama and closeness in the world in a super tense match. Good stuff and well played!
But with that being wrapped up, we're going to have to look at what's coming up next. So here we go! Ahem... *clears throat*
60 participants enter another grueling season of Happy Tee Friends, the ninth of its kind! Split into 10 teams of 6 players once again, each team are looking to claim the ultimate prize: the shiny golden tee for the winning team! For one lucky (and talented) player, they will be crowned MVP of the season and they will be handed the nice and... well, super nice sky blue tee! It's looking to be another closely contested season already with a stacked lineup of players and teams, and with the last season ending in full drama on the last match week to bring the comeback of unforeseen results the expectations are probably somewhere similar. Will we have a finish quite like that this season? We shall see over the next 9 weeks.
What's going on in match week 1 to open the season? The CC folks are very happily welcoming the HTF crew to their week 36 event, the Gainesville Open @ Edendale Wharf. If you thought those that qualified for the SOTS Cup were the only ones visiting New Zealand (or at least something inspired by it), well you better have booked a plane ticket for this week because the theming and inspiration is still the same. Looks like an ocean of sand at times, the colors at least on default lighting look the complete opposite of Mangawhai, and depending on conditions, this might go any which way in difficulty, although I'm sure it won't matter all too much. According to the designer of the course, Jay Featherstone, this course "has decent sized fairways with small challenging greens to hit in to". Take that however you will, I am not a good judge of whether that quote is accurate or not but I can believe the designer.
Now go out there, swing as straight as you can, and if you get called a cheating basement dweller by the CC message boards... well in that case you're doing many things right. Cheers, and good luck!

Week #1 is now in the books! A week of some tough luck for a couple of teams, not awfully close matchups to kick things off but let's put that as first week starting problems for some.
Biggest winners this week are those Birds with Big Wings that are apparently not yellow. They spread those wings to soar into the top of the team standings after week 1 in a flying start, releasing the pain on DeLaet Release by a margin of 17.5-6.5. All around good team effort, especially in the middle pools but the one surprise this week is found on this team: Mr. Lasko is the only person to hit full 4 points this entire week. On the DeLaet side, condolences to one Mr. Baldwin who gets shut out with a score of -54. That's some awful luck of opposition scoring well each round.
Next teams to give chase after week 1 are about 333 yards away (according to some caddy who is always wrong), as team Three Hundred Turdy Tree Yards knocks off The Goldmembers by a score of 16-8. In this matchup, 2.5 and 3 pointers galore for the winning side, and on the losing side the one and only, world's number one, Mr. Collins holds the fort with 3.5 points on an amazing -75 on a CC course where the greens felt less friendly.
Same scoreline of 16-8 stays firm in match E where Very Firm. Very Fast. beats the... well, you know, out of Crapsters R' Us. 3s and 2s are the only things that apply for the winners, very good indeed. Can't say it was a crap effort for one Ms. Santos, -64 and 3 points is a good start despite the loss. This sets up a rebound match for week 2 where Crapsters and DeLaet will want to try and bounce back from their losses.
Elsewhere, The Green Lovesauce took a tight grip around the necks of Grip It & Sip It by a final score of 15-9. Mr Pansegrau, as is tradition, is the leading architect in the demise of their opposition with a -71 and 3 points, miles ahead in score compared to his fellow saucy pals. A special mention for no reason at all to super sub Mr. Womo, who just so happened to come kick this writer in the junk... grr, well played sir. A couple of good -60+ scores and good overall balance behind those will be what the grippers and sippers will hope to be enough next week, and won't let them slide deeper into the need to sip that good stuff to drown their miseries. The Green Lovesauce will want the momentum to go forward, as the current leaders are up next and they're got massive wings to try and smack them with. GI & SI looks to bounce back against VF. VF.
And last but not least, in the closest match of the week, A Rundown Dirty Shame puts 2 Packs & A Case to shame, beating them 14-10. A pretty standard team effort for the rundown squad, nothing overly huge or eye popping in points gained but solid all around. Will it be enough against the Yards? Mr. Hashimoto gets to -65 on the other side, only for 2 points, and thus packs his clubs for next week's match, probably wishing that score got him more. Maybe next week, when they face off against another team on the losing side, The Goldmembers.
The format of these posts has been the biggest headache for me to create. For one, I wish to note some performances every week without limiting myself to just a few players out of 60 every week because that is going to be a nightmare selection in many pools, or will continue to have same choices if one player stands much higher above the rest in a pool. On the other hand, I'm a terrible idea man and can't really figure out good ways to make sure how to make things work differently. So here's what I will do and you might have seen it already: I will toss the recaps out there and noting good, or unlucky, or otherwise notable performers while I'm at it, no matter if you win or lose. This way, I don't have to think too hard about who would I choose as an all star squad, since some selections are extremely painful to make, and also those that are more likely to need a super week to make the squad can also get a chance for their time in the light on any given week should they stand out in some way. I personally think that's a fair way of going about it, but we'll see. I can also keep these write ups in easier sizes too that way, so I won't go insanely long every week since it's already dragging with this extra paragraph, which won't be there next week.
Righto, onto week 2! This week, CC tries to answer a question that no one really thought about asking: what happens when you take a course from very late 2020, and put that into the standards of the game in 2022? The answers will be found in this week's event, the Shakeweight Invitational @ Potunk. Not much different in looks to most weeks, so at least that hasn't changed all too much in the year and a half. Less sand than most weeks though. The designer, Thomas Petrocelli, has granted us a lovely description that reveals all about this course with this gem of a quote (and the entire course description!): "Long Island-inspired course". Go find out what that means! This week's "Tomi's Top Pick" for the top match (or maybe it's a curse?): #4 The Green Lovesauce vs. #1 Birds With Big Wings.
Cheers, and good luck!
