I will say this, now that I've cooled down a bit... The first two weeks of the season I made both cuts, but I was playing for the fast tempo on purpose. In week 3 I committed to trying to play the game the way it was intended, and worked really hard to figure out the perfect tempo, so the last 6 weeks I've played by trying to hit perfects and properly use the shot shaper. Well, I've missed the last 6 cuts in a row! I think it's really unfortunate that in order to succeed in this game you have to play it to the fast. I'm not calling out anybody who does that, and I'm NOT saying it's cheating, so please don't accuse me of that. I blame HB for that, not the people who do it. I just think it's dumb, that's all, and I'm growing pretty annoyed by it all, despite that I enjoy TGCTours. Yep... I think I'm in the exact same boat as you other than that I've been playing perfect from the beginning of Q-school. Now I'm at a bit of a cross road here and not too sure how to proceed... Either continue playing for perfect, make a cut every once in a while and rarely or never make a challenge for the top of the board OR switch to play the fast like the rest of the competitors. The other option I guess would be to stop playing TGC rounds but that just seems like a shame to stop playing simply because I'm not doing well enough. Basically where I'm at is either continue playing the game as I have been and not enjoying my scoring or change up my style to enjoy my scoring and sacrifice my general enjoyment for the game. Tough quandary. I like to compete, certainly, but the main reason I play these games is for enjoyment and lets just say its getting less and less enjoyable by the day. Playing the tours using Xbox is a jail sentence. I've stopped a few weeks ago on CCA and really just enjoy competing against the good xbox1 players who strive for perfects. I like the game with all it's imperfections but competing with the other two platforms is a waste of time for me.

While I get what you're trying to say..I think you'd be shocked by the amount of your competitors that actually play for perfects or near perfects and score well doing so

You’re right, I would be shocked.

While I get what you're trying to say..I think you'd be shocked by the amount of your competitors that actually play for perfects or near perfects and score well doing so If I had to guess, I would say that maybe 25% of the top 20 each week on Kinetic play for perfect and of those 5 players I would guess 4 of them are on PS4 and 1 on PC. Of those that make the cut each week, It maybe gets to 50% (30 golfers roughly) that play for perfect and of those I would guess 20 are on PS4 and 5+ on PC and the remaining stragglers are my fellow Xboxers who made it in that week. I play in societies with some of the best Xbox players and its been clear to us for a while who plays the fast and who doesn't. Again, my quip is not the fact that people are playing the fast, but with the game enabling it and suggesting that its being played how they intended it to be... something I have little to no expectation of being fixed. I still miss putts and I still hit off tempo terrible shots where I am the only one to blame. I'm assuming anyone who shoots less than -18 each round has errors they could improve on. There are better Xbox players than me playing for perfects and there are certainly better PS4/PC players playing for perfect who are better than me too. My problem is I've got to the point where practice stops helping, it all comes down to my tempo in a given round and its slightly out of my control. At this point I'm just going to keep on keeping on. I'll play most tourneys and try to make some cuts but I'm not going to grind out any practice rounds or even have aspirations of higher tours. If it gets to the point where I rack up too many demo marks I may have to take a break from the tours. Sorry if that was all a bit dramatic but hopefully at least someone reads it and realizes they aren't alone.

10:30am ET Tuesday Cut Line Projection 92 Players have started the tournament 74 Players have completed round 2 72 Players yet to tee off (based on 162 currently being on Kinetic Tour)
Average Round 1 score = 67.4 Average Round 2 score = 66.1
Round 2 playing over a stroke easier vs round 1 which makes sense with the closer tees. I have the projected cut line right now at -11 or better. If the holiday in the US this week limits the number of participants, I could see the line drop to -10 or -9.
Yours truly rebounded with a 2 round score of -15 after missing the cut last week.
Good luck

I also wish the game would fix the "fast" swing dilemma. So far, I'm setting in 4th and play (and definitely advocate) for perfect swings, but I do play on PS4. Just out of ignorance of the situation, what is the difference for Xbox players? Are the controllers more sensitive on the tempo?

Are the controllers more sensitive on the tempo? Not the best educated on the technical aspects of things but it has to do with the polling rates on PS4 being lower (?) than Xbox with PC in the middle. Its above my head but I believe the PS4 has the least sensitive tempo PC next and then Xbox most sensitive. I probably have some details wrong in there but in summary PS4 easiest tempo, PC easier depending on set up, Xbox hardest tempo.

Sorry if that was all a bit dramatic but hopefully at least someone reads it and realizes they aren't alone. I'm not saying their isn't a problem that a lot of people are indeed playing for the fast swing. I will admit I was even guilty of this at 1st but have since found my swing and I routinely get perfect or gray area fast on most of my swings. Do I still utilize the fast from time to time?...sure...but more and more I'm finding myself in the areas I mentioned for my final swing result. It was a "eureka" moment for me when the swing finally made sense and I was able to start consistently hitting the perfects and gray areas shots. Something just started clicking and I like to think if people struggling just keep at it...that moment will come for them too. If it means anything I play on PC with an Elite controller and I'm hearing it from more and more people on my Steam friend's list that they too are playing for more perfects than fasts

Very happy to be playing this course this week as it is my all time favourite from all versions of TGC, thanks staypuft39; for me its a great balance of risk/reward while still being very playable in varying conditions. I'm another who continues to play for Perfects, unfortunately they appear to be very server/connection dependant, as for me the fast option is cheesy (its within the rules so no issue with those who wish to play that way). Some days I get 60 -70% Perfects with others mostly in the Grey, other days it can be as low as 30 - 40% and some Reds thrown in (I think its the connection not me - but maybe I'm just not as good as i think I am). I always load up a high scoring random ghost for my rounds as it feels more competitive for me; so far this season in my CC-A and Kinetic rounds about 40 - 50% appear to be playing for Perfects. Started with a pair of 65's to be -14 at the cut, if I could putt I would be around -20; looking forward to finishing up my rounds later in the week. Good luck to those yet to play / finish.

Again, nothing against the people that play the fasts, but much respect for all of you responding that battle for the perfects.

Watching the cutline again but looks like I'm destined to miss the weekend by a stroke. Pissed away the first round with my putter. Tempo didn't help but R1 was all on me with 3 bogies and a double and 28 putts total for a -3.... Time will tell.

This will be my worst finish of the year so far, but it looks like I avoided a mark.

I'm not even in Kinetic but I usually play the other TGC events if I have the time. And wow.
This course is my new #1. I was felt down after that was over because it was so fun to play and also looked great obviously. If the designer is around here, you are a legend.

Still puts a smile on my face when people dig the course. Thanks to Dan for putting it on tour even if it's getting up there in age now. Might as well plug the fact I'll have my first 2k21 course out within the next couple weeks, so keep an eye out 👍
