Once in a generation, a course comes along the blows everyone's mind, a course that dominates competitions, a course that causes schedulers to come to blows over who gets to use it first, a course stunning in it's beauty, a course routed to perfection, a course that once played never leaves the mind of those lucky enough to play it. A course that gets played by multiple societies and yet the players never get bored. A course that get reused here on tgctours with out a hint of complaint from the members. The Silverback is not that course. More than once in a generation, a scheduler gets bored of traveling the world to find courses for tour when he would rather be sitting by the pool in the schedulers mansion. When he get's sick of dealing with prima donna designers and their over the top demands. When he get's sick of whiny moaning players who are never happy but always ungrateful. When he is sick of being considered the bottom of the barrel of everyone involved in tours, as he is not one of the admins that came up with this amazing site, as he is not one of the designers that give us all these amazing courses to play, as he is not a ranger helping to find any issue with courses, as he is not the player to be looked up to for his skills, as he is not the player that despite everything going against him, still battles on impressing everyone with his bravery. No, he is just a scheduler. At times like this, he randomly picks a course from the past to be used again no matter what anyone thought of that course, The Silverback is that course. I want to make one thing clear, just in case there are any members of the lynch mob from two years ago when The Silverback was last used still playing in this tour. staypuft39 was not allowed anywhere near the settings this time around, pitchforks and torches can be returned to the garden sheds. I barely escaped with my life last time around and learned my lesson. Matt Geddes was not allowed even so much as give a hint of the course settings. To this day, I still do not understand why he tried to have me murdered. Good luck, have fun and avoid any giant marshmallow man, he can not be trusted.

Knew the last line of the first paragraph was coming....still cackled at it. Great course choice this week! 😁 Enjoy, everyone.

I think the 1st paragraph should have included: A course so good, it held a tournament 18 years before it was created in October of 2000

Fun course...plays well. You can score here if you play smart
I won't post my scores because I have no idea if I'll pass the API this week

Another beautiful course on Kinetic, another missed cut for Victor Lane, sitting at -6 at the midline. That won't even be close, but I played the final two rounds simply because I've been looking forward to this course on the circuit.
70-68-70-70
Still one of the best courses of all time in this game!

Putter got hot at the end of round 2. Shot -6 in round 1 and -9 in round 2 to get to -15. Should get me above the cut line after missing it last week. Fun course, definitely can go low but there are bogies out there on the long par 4s. Looking forward to see where I stand when scores post. On a side note - PS4 Only - I am setting up a 32 player match play tournament. We are already over half full and I’d love to have a few other players from Kinetic join in. If we can gain some momentum maybe it can be a regular thing. I posted over in the community run events thread but here is a link to the signup sheet if anyone here is interested. docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1q8CZjnp2L6ySiHxoC6mtpa2zna46bf6fijyZNg48aJw

Rough start on the first round, as I bogeyed 2 of the first 4 holes. I was fortunately able to turn it around and shoot -7 in R1 and follow up with 59, 60, & 61 (with par's on the two easiest hole, ugh) to set a -43. I think the mediocre first round will cost me any change at winning this one, but still a fun course.

I will say this, now that I've cooled down a bit...
The first two weeks of the season I made both cuts, but I was playing for the fast tempo on purpose. In week 3 I committed to trying to play the game the way it was intended, and worked really hard to figure out the perfect tempo, so the last 6 weeks I've played by trying to hit perfects and properly use the shot shaper. Well, I've missed the last 6 cuts in a row!
I think it's really unfortunate that in order to succeed in this game you have to play it to the fast. I'm not calling out anybody who does that, and I'm NOT saying it's cheating, so please don't accuse me of that. I blame HB for that, not the people who do it. I just think it's dumb, that's all, and I'm growing pretty annoyed by it all, despite that I enjoy TGCTours.

At the beginning of the game I tried for perfect and sprayed the ball all over the course. It was only until a week or so before Q-School I discovered the fast was much more consistent. I'll be honest, it's the only reason I have success. If I tried for perfect every time I'd be toast. I have no problem with people playing for fast. I guess what I don't understand is why is a "fast" so much easier to consistently hit than a perfect? And why is the shape of the fast always the same? I would say the fix is to either make fasts less consistent, or, be more lenient on a missed perfect. But all in all, it comes down to HB as you said.

I think I'm in the exact same boat as you other than that I've been playing perfect from the beginning of Q-school. Now I'm at a bit of a cross road here and not too sure how to proceed... Either continue playing for perfect, make a cut every once in a while and rarely or never make a challenge for the top of the board OR switch to play the fast like the rest of the competitors. The other option I guess would be to stop playing TGC rounds but that just seems like a shame to stop playing simply because I'm not doing well enough. Basically where I'm at is either continue playing the game as I have been and not enjoying my scoring or change up my style to enjoy my scoring and sacrifice my general enjoyment for the game. Tough quandary. I like to compete, certainly, but the main reason I play these games is for enjoyment and lets just say its getting less and less enjoyable by the day.

Exactly, very well said.
I'm not even thinking about winning or getting top tens, but Daniel picks such great courses for this tour, it would be nice to play the second two rounds each week and have them matter (I know I can play them if I want even if I don't make the cut, but be honest, who really wants to do that for no reason?).

I agree that it is most unfortunate the game is built this way. I would like to see fast swings be a negative vs something that is easier to play. I am a "perfect tempo" player and refuse to fall over to the "fast" swing, even though it seems to be the easier thing. Again, gamers are going to find a way to succeed, so I don't blame anyone for playing fast, I just wish the game didn't allow it to be consistent. As some words of encouragement, perfect tempo play can be done. I played the CC-A for practice and went wayy low using a perfect tempo. I typically take my time and use one practice swing, and then play the shot.

I'd say keep plugging away if you're enjoying it. I managed to win the other week playing for perfects so it can be done. Having said that since getting promoted I haven't bothered playing as I can't see the point of trying to get to platinum, got through 5 holes and gave up.
At least the majority of struggling players aren't playing the WD loophole by not finishing their 2nd round if they're going to get demo marks when they already have 3 or 4, seen some do it and it comes across worse than playing for fasts in my mind.
