All I can say, despite being really upset with HB/2K over this, is THANK YOU! It needs to be said that you have provided people with thousands of hours of RCR pleasure on Augusta, St. Andrews, Oakmont, etc due to your high-class RCRs of those courses (and more), and hopefully at the end of the day the community can simply thank you for all of the years of work you've put into these for our enjoyment. Second this! Thanks for all your hard work over the years man!

The thing that makes me laugh is that HB gives you the swilken bridge for St. Andrews in the designer, they give you every exact bridge you need for Augusta including the camera towers, it’s like they want us to make these courses but then it all goes cloak and dagger when the sh%$ hits the fan

Makes me wonder if we are just one step closer to the course designer being eliminated from the game. If they get rid of course designer this game will die

theclv24 just out of curiosity, did you add the lone palm tree at Augusta in either one of the versions? There is a story from Bubba Watson on an episode of Feherty about this involving an engagement ring and Phil spoiling it for him.

I just ported the course from TGC19, so no palm tree was possible. I assume whenever the lidar version is done it will be there now.

After sleeping on it overnight, I've settled in on a few conclusions regarding Augusta, St. Andrews, and potentially other high-profile courses in the game, and come to terms with a few realities.
1. My schedule and life has changed a lot over the past year, due to moving, a new baby, Covid, and who knows what else. I feel like my capacity for tackling major projects and high profile courses isn't what it used to be. After I finish Winged Foot, I am going to focus on much smaller profile courses that I want to bring to life throughout this winter. After that I'm not sure what my future with this game will be.
2. When it comes to high-profile courses, it seems like word of mouth on platforms like Twitter and Twitch, and just overall chatter from maybe you would say the more casual 2K21 player, if you will, is what brings some of these RCRs to the attention of people who would rather not see them in the game without some licensing money coming their way from 2K. Therefore, I think the best way to avoid that is to simply eliminate a single course that can be pointed to as the culprit. With that in mind...
3. On Monday, after the spotlight of the Masters dies down a bit, I'll offer my Firethorn file to anyone on PC who would like it, with no restrictions. If you want to just keep it locally to play, cool. If you want to publish it, fine by me. If you want to alter it in any way, be my guest. Just PM me with your email address if you want me to send it on Monday.
4. Regarding the Augusta Lidar file. I had originally started planting it, then stripped it back down some with the release of the new game and new planting options. It's current state is essentially a fully planted clubhouse area and holes 1-5 sculpted, including the 5th hole changes. In addition to not wanting to tackle major projects anymore, I know I can't (nor do I want to) keep up with Augusta's changes year over year. Ideally what I would like to see happen with this file is for a couple of experienced RCR designers to tackle it as a group project, one that I would also be willing to contribute to. Rather than distribute this file freely, I'd rather see it properly finished and published. If that doesn't happen, though, then perhaps I would be open to distributing the file freely at some future point in time. For now, PM me if you think you would be interested in the project.
5. Now that St. Andrews is on the list of censored courses, I'm offering the same deal as Firethorn for my regular and tournament versions of St. Andrews.
6. Should any of my other courses be censored, such as Oakmont, Pinehurst, etc, then again I'll probably go with the flood-the-market approach. For now just Augusta and St. Andrews though.
That's it for my updates. I know I promised a Winged Foot update. I'll try to get to it soon.
Really appreciate your efforts. Thank you!

Craig, I’d love to play with the Augusta file. You have my email from other things we’ve talked about in the past. Thanks brother!

Thanks for all you have done CLV. Hands down one of the best RCR guys out there. I hope these files are given to an appropriate designer(s) within our community. Hopefully they can be renamed to something not affiliated with the actual names and HB leaves them be.

Sent you a PM as well Craig.
I don’t draw the parallels of some suit sending a cease and desist to the demise of this game, I think it’s more a matter of now that the game has become more mainstream, it’s simply much easier for “underground” courses to be outed and censored. Is what it is at this point.
Said this in the PM, but want to say it publicly too, thanks for all your efforts in this game, Craig. You are one of the OG’s when it comes to RCRs and your work has brought added enjoyment to thousands and thousands of players of this game.

There is a story from Bubba Watson on an episode of Feherty about this involving an engagement ring and Phil spoiling it for him. if any tree needs to be added, it’s the infamous cable tree on 13 tee. It was revealed by Leishman’s caddie on the NLU pod last week that there is a tree off 13 tee that is tied back with a cable during practice rounds...but then at some point during the tournament the cable will be undone and the tree hangs down obscuring the sight line for those who dare go up and over.

I just sent out a mass BCC email to everyone who requested either course. I'll respond to each PM too, but if you requested the course and didn't get it just let me know, it's possible I might have missed some.
