After sleeping on it overnight, I've settled in on a few conclusions regarding Augusta, St. Andrews, and potentially other high-profile courses in the game, and come to terms with a few realities.
1. My schedule and life has changed a lot over the past year, due to moving, a new baby, Covid, and who knows what else. I feel like my capacity for tackling major projects and high profile courses isn't what it used to be. After I finish Winged Foot, I am going to focus on much smaller profile courses that I want to bring to life throughout this winter. After that I'm not sure what my future with this game will be.
2. When it comes to high-profile courses, it seems like word of mouth on platforms like Twitter and Twitch, and just overall chatter from maybe you would say the more casual 2K21 player, if you will, is what brings some of these RCRs to the attention of people who would rather not see them in the game without some licensing money coming their way from 2K. Therefore, I think the best way to avoid that is to simply eliminate a single course that can be pointed to as the culprit. With that in mind...
3. On Monday, after the spotlight of the Masters dies down a bit, I'll offer my Firethorn file to anyone on PC who would like it, with no restrictions. If you want to just keep it locally to play, cool. If you want to publish it, fine by me. If you want to alter it in any way, be my guest. Just PM me with your email address if you want me to send it on Monday.
4. Regarding the Augusta Lidar file. I had originally started planting it, then stripped it back down some with the release of the new game and new planting options. It's current state is essentially a fully planted clubhouse area and holes 1-5 sculpted, including the 5th hole changes. In addition to not wanting to tackle major projects anymore, I know I can't (nor do I want to) keep up with Augusta's changes year over year. Ideally what I would like to see happen with this file is for a couple of experienced RCR designers to tackle it as a group project, one that I would also be willing to contribute to. Rather than distribute this file freely, I'd rather see it properly finished and published. If that doesn't happen, though, then perhaps I would be open to distributing the file freely at some future point in time. For now, PM me if you think you would be interested in the project.
5. Now that St. Andrews is on the list of censored courses, I'm offering the same deal as Firethorn for my regular and tournament versions of St. Andrews.
6. Should any of my other courses be censored, such as Oakmont, Pinehurst, etc, then again I'll probably go with the flood-the-market approach. For now just Augusta and St. Andrews though.
That's it for my updates. I know I promised a Winged Foot update. I'll try to get to it soon.

Do you Reckon HB are going through your steam Name and just Deleting courses or are they getting information from somewhere to delete them.I just wonder if another designer released the course if it would be picked up.
Always Thought St Andrews copyright was "The old Course" not "old Course" which HB have blanked out but search still shows.

I mean, people continue to tweet about Firethorn etc to the masses, so my guess is they are just looking on social media.

Social media doesn't help, but every society on every platform was using it this week, including TGCT. Pretty sure the barstool guys were streaming it as well, which really doesn't help either. Realistically, the best possible approach for handling the public demand for these courses while avoiding the content issues is just creating a couple very strongly "inspired by" courses that can be used openly.

If only they cared as much about fixing the problems with this game as they do about removing courses that people worked for hours and hours on...but pretty cool they're still able to try and sell their game on social media by hyping up this "big golf weekend"!
And while I understand that going the route of the "influenced by" courses is going to be how will likely have to work going forward, it's so frustrating they tout their course creator as a system that lets you build whatever course you want...except for the courses that people actually want to play.

Obviously we'd all like to have every RCR we can dream of, but if its a off-shoot course or nothing, I'll take a well made off-shoot.

So when I want to play Augusta - I still launch Firethorn.

Used to like it when PGA wasn't attached to TGC. It was a real Cult underground kinda thing.

Thanks for all the effort you’ve put into your designs, they’ve certainly given me hours of golfing pleasure. Such a pity we’re in this situation.

It’s the lack of communication from HB as to why they have censored them that bothers me, why not tell the designers if it was an approach by a particular clubs legal team at least we would know why they have been hidden. Just to censor them and say nothing is pretty rude to the designer in my book.

Makes me wonder if we are just one step closer to the course designer being eliminated from the game.

All I can say, despite being really upset with HB/2K over this, is THANK YOU! It needs to be said that you have provided people with thousands of hours of RCR pleasure on Augusta, St. Andrews, Oakmont, etc due to your high-class RCRs of those courses (and more), and hopefully at the end of the day the community can simply thank you for all of the years of work you've put into these for our enjoyment.
