I saw the local stores in the US won't have any in stock units for sale on the 11th. Will the number of units available be any larger than the pre-orders that were sold out in seconds? Tips?

They're saying to expect all PS5 sales to be online only until at least the new year. Probably not much you can do but keep checking various retailers sites and hope you get lucky. Whatever stock they have on launch day I'd assume will be gone as quick as the preorders were.

Well this creates an issue since I was planning on trading in my PS4, games, and controllers towards the PS5. I guess I'll have to wait until after the holidays.

Checking my email for a shipping notification, Walmart order tracking page, and my bank account on a very regular basis hoping for some indication that I should be expecting a PS5 at my door in the next day or two. So far it's still listed as backordered and a pending charge hasn't shown up. My first time ever preordering something so I have no idea what to expect and I'll continue doubting I'll actually be getting one until it's confirmed one way or another. It's sad that I'm so eager to see a $700 charge show up on my credit card.

Just got an email from Walmart to let me know they've got a lot of orders to process so I should expect a 2-3 business day delay. So likely I'll have to wait until next week before it comes, but at least I know that one will be on the way eventually. Now I just need to make sure I'm home on delivery day or it'll take another 2 or 3 days before UPS gets it to their pickup location.

Pickup order is ready in the A.M. Hopefully I get up in time before work to pick it up. Will likely grab the Remastered Demon's Souls as well while I'm there.

I was able to pick up my PS5 this morning in Australia. I've set it up and starting playing Assassin's Creed Valhalla. The controller is a game changer with haptic feedback and adaptive triggers.

I live in an apartment so it's not usually a problem but it varies from company to company and if someone else lets them in the building or not. Got my PSVR adapter the other day and it was sitting in front of my door. Canada Post has a parcel drop box in our lobby so they just put the key in your regular mailbox which works best. UPS, which I believe Walmart uses here usually buzzes, tries again the next day, then delivers it to their store which takes another day or two. No worries of theft but can easily add almost a week to the delivery time, so I've come to not enjoy getting things shipped with them. Safe to say I'm feeling a bit of a cough coming on and it feels like it should be turning serious right around the day I'll eventually be expecting delivery. No further communication today, so I guess that'll make it next week sometime.

Email from Walmart last night informing me of further delays but they’re expecting delivery by Wednesday. They’ll be issuing a $20 evoucher as an apology. Then got an email at 2 this morning to tell me the order has been shipped. Tracking shows that Walmart shipped it about 2 hours prior to the delay email they sent me. Assuming no weekend delivery chances seem good that I should get it on Monday.

Estimated shipping date is sometime on Monday. My wife is home on Monday to accept delivery but I'm starting to feel what could be a 24 hour bug coming on that could hit sometime tomorrow night. PS3 that I haven't touched in 7 years was unhooked a week or two ago so there's a spot waiting for it and I won't have to waste time trying to navigate through the cord maze behind the TV. Very glad I managed to get super lucky on preorder day because it sounds like demand will be high for a while and it'll come down to luck of regularly checking different sites and hoping you get to the right one at the right time.
My friend list has 40 people on it and I've only seen two so far show up on a PS5. It may not yet be available for all 40 but only two is still a freakishly low number.

Maybe not everyone on your list can afford to buy this during these holiday times?

Maybe not everyone on your list can afford to buy this during these holiday times? I remember when the PS4 came out, also this time of year roughly half my friends list had upgraded within a few days of launch. While it is entirely possible that financial situations are different now then they were 7 years ago, most signs seem to point towards low supply being the issue preventing people from upgrading as opposed to low demand. I’ll admit that at the moment there’s not much reason to get either of the new consoles beyond just wanting the shiny new thing. Most of the games available can be played on the old consoles as well, so you’re not really going to be missing much if you don’t upgrade for another 6 months or more. Realistically speaking waiting until year 2 or 3 is probably the best time to upgrade to any new console.

There’s not enough inventory to go around for us. I’ve been trying since launch day. Had one in my cart from Walmart but when I went to checkout the site crashed. Sold out by the time I got back in. Same thing happened with ps direct website. May have been a good thing though. I’ve seen some people reporting their PS5 bricking up on them via Twitter. Definitely recommend researching this, I don’t know if it was a firmware update or what, I haven’t looked it up yet.
