That’s always a time I hate the internet. People only tend to comment on things when they have something negative to say. Means the 100’s of thousands of people who haven’t had any problems are forgotten compared to the 100’s that have a problem.
Had mine on almost all day and it was running smooth and virtually silent, even when holding my ear right up to the console. Small hard drive size and currently no folders are going to annoy me. The controller and use of it is really the story here as of now. The games aren’t any big leap graphically over the PS4, but they physically feel so much different and developers had better utilize these features because they are amazing. Astrobot Playroom is a great game/tech demo that I already platinumed because I didn’t want to stop playing.
No Man’s Sky looks a bit nicer, although on the two planets I’ve been on so far the day time sun had way too much glare which actually made it hard to see things. Some usage of the new controller features but not as noticeable as it is in Astrobot. PS5 version is also considered different from the PS4 version so you get to earn all the same trophies a second time.
I’m happy with my purchase so far, but beyond being an early adopter I’d say there should be no need to stress in trying to get one as quickly as possible.

I took a minute to search the bricking thing. I need to know what the deal is with it before I get mine. Found this: Rest Mode Error One of the key features of the PS4 when it came out several years ago is the ability to put the console to rest mode. This does suspend the game being played, enable the download of games and updates while the console is on low power, and unlocks remote play and control features Rest mode is also available on the PS5, but some players reported it to cause a critical error, forcing the console to crash, requiring database rebuilding on PS5. Unfortunately, the critical error triggered by rest mode can brick the PS5, which would then require players to contact a Sony customer service representative for further instructions or to ask for a replacement. Full article (has other minor stuff listed) > gamerant.com/ps5-launch-errors-brick-rest-mode-database-rebuilding-hummer-controller-dualsense/None of it deters me. I just need to find one

I’m presently sitting in a queue at PlayStation Direct. Estimated wait time “more than an hour”. Lol
But this is the line to buy a PS5 directly from Sony. Hopefully I don’t get a checkout crash like last time.
Guess I’ll play some TGC while I wait.

Waited it out only to get an Out Of Stock page. They are bastards. If the stock is empty then kill the queue. Don’t waste people’s time like that.
So 2020. Smh.

Just a reminder to anyone planning to get a PS5 that had Plus. Bugsnax for the PS5 is currently free and while you can’t add it to your library from the PS4 you can with either the app or the PC store. Then when you get a PS5 the game will still be sitting there waiting for you.
The Plus Collection of 20 PS4 games can only be added from a PS5 but Sony hasn’t announced if those games will ever be removed or not. Apparently if you add them to your library on a PS5 you can then download them to a PS4, so if you know someone with a PS5 that you trust with brief access to your PSN account you can get them to add those 20 games for you.

So many little things that are cool the more you explore. They finally include your total play time for every game so I can tell you I last played the original TGC 1250 days ago and played it for 389 hours total. In comparison nevadaballin last played it 1199 days ago and a total of 4800 hours(not stalking you, I just happened to press the PlayStation button right as you signed on, so it brought up your profile). On the profile page of each PS5 games it lists various levels or trophies and if you select one before you start the game it will load right to that spot for you. PlayStation Plus cloud saves are finally useful since you can just transfer over whatever PS4 saves you need, as you need them instead of taking the time to do a full transfer during the PS5 setup. Lack of folders is still the biggest concern to my OCD brain.

I have never bought a console around its launch date. I just don't see the point. It's very hard to get one unless you go out of your way to do it like camp outside a store and they're way overpriced. Also, it's not like older consoles become irrelevant immediately after a new one comes out. I still have a fatboy PS2 that runs perfect and I love it. Sort of off topic, the PS2 was/is one hell of a machine. Best console ever in my opinion. I bought it used sometime around 03 or 04. It'll be interesting to see if these new fancy consoles can last as long.
