Pub Crawl, Rounds 3 & 4. I found myself in the exciting and extremely unusual position of being co-leader in CC-C at the cut, so with two more rounds to play I set about undermining that, lest I give myself unreasonable expectations of adequacy. R3 started brightly, -3 after 5 holes, but then the par train chugged into the station and I was still -3 after 10. I added another 4 birds on the home stretch but a -7 finish was quite a step down from the previous round. R4 felt like pulling teeth. I simply couldn't get anything going, missed every putt I had the opportunity to, watched my approaches slide away into the spacious areas of the green where the pin noticeably wasn't nearby, and so on. -6 to finish the round, -35 for the tournament. Despite the best of my worst intentions it currently looks as if I didn't do enough damage to drop myself out of the promo mark zone, so all being well I'll be teeing off in CC-B next week. Possibly. Maybe. Perhaps. However that turns out, I'm happy that I managed 72 holes without a bogey this week. Art VandelayStill the Promo to go Nigel. You may be teeing off in the Pro Tours!

Knockout: Bloody Mary QF vs Tony Runkle Bit of a grudge match this one against my mate runkibus. He posted a relatively lacklustre (by his standards) -5, so I felt I had a good chance to take him down, if I could just get my poop in a group. However, after successive bogeys on #3 & #4 my poop was in serious disarray and flying towards the nearest fan. Time to knuckle down, and 3 birds on the next 4 holes helped, as did the 5 I picked up on the final 6 holes for a -7 finish. My poor mental arithmetic suggests that was just enough to scrape the win, but it was certainly a struggle. SeanArt

Orbital Flight Test Requirement, Week 5. My usual form in OFTR is to score something distinctly room temperature, around 10 points or so. And then last week I somehow set fire to my pants and logged 24 points, which was a bit scary. So I went into this week's round with altered expectations, and blimey if I didn't score 15 points on the front 9 alone. I hardly recognise myself. I couldn't quite keep up with that on the back 9, but added another 7 points to break 20 points for the second week running. Crikey! Art Vandelay

Art VandelayApologies to fellow team members, tried my best but Charles was too much for me this week. Kept with him for a long time on R4 but he crept in front with nothing I could do in reply. Redeemed myself on OFTR, -14 with 2 bogeys on the card.

Final wrap up for week 5 I deserve 0 points for this garbage. That seems unlikely though, somehow R3 is giving us a chance to be on the board and think I fought a draw in R4. OFTR was as dry as the course itself after what looked really promising after the 1st. Lost everything except the ability to save par. Utterly demotivating. Next week can't come soon enough. Unless it's more of the same. Art Vandelay

OFTR
I took my skipper along for this round. As soon as I saw his clobber in the waiting screen, I told myself not to look at him directly because bad things would follow.
Bad things did follow. I had to send my caddy back to the shop to get another sleeve of Titleists after the 10th.
Anyone remember when I first joined TBC and shot about -17 or something silly like that in my first ever round here?
