They prob just did q school last week..thats where they were placed..prob better than that..some courses suit some people..lots of reasons..i played first week missed the cut..skipped the next 2 for family reasons..made the cut this week..just keep plugging away..the better players will get promoted. It's funny you say that. I was looking back the past few tourneys, and it seems as top players promote out, somehow, from somewhere, new players appear shooting much better than the field. I'd love to hit a -10 round once in a while. So far I've made the cuts, but no promotion mark yet. I sit -9 after 3rd round this week, so I guess I have a chance. Next weeks course looks really tough.

Hi everyone
My first post on the forum
I thought my days of playing computer games were gone decades ago but this summer I finally got a console to cheer myself up in these strange times. I’ve never been much of a gamer and sports sims are pretty much the only games I buy. Played TGC2019 for a few months and joined TGCTours before giving up after a couple of tournaments because my scores were so much worse than everyone else
The new game is far from perfect but its difficulty does make TGCTours a much more enjoyable experience for me where the majority of players are shooting scores that give a sense of realism. Also, the existence of cuts and the promotion/demotion marks and fast tracking system which I think is genius and gives everyone a fair crack whilst making the tours as well balanced as they can be, just the whole professional way it’s done is very appealing
So after sitting out the initial 8 rounds of qualifying on the basis that I wouldn’t have a snowball in hell’s chance of competing at Master’s difficulty, then seeing that people had got in with some very high scores had another go the next week at the Brian Blessed and here I am
Three weeks in I’m enjoying it in a masochistic sort of way. My scores don’t lie - I’ve not been close to making a cut. I got a double demotion mark the first week, a single the next. This week, needing to avoid a double demotion mark to stay in CC-I I found myself sitting at 10 over par after 25 holes (on possibly the easiest course we will ever face) and somehow managed to play the last 11 holes in 5 under to survive another week
And this is why I persevere- I’m clearly not a good player but it’s those occasional runs of holes that keep you dreaming that you could become decent - it’s not unlike real golf in that sense!
So next week really is the last chance saloon for me - I hope I can make it as you seem a nice and humble bunch! I will be honest - I look at some of the other threads and I can’t help but roll my eyes at the false ‘modesty’ - my favourite gem this week was the guy who told us he “played so bad” and “putted dreadfully” - so what terrible score had he posted? 28 under par!
Well done to all those who had a good week. Commiserations to those in doldrums with me. Good luck for next event which looks enjoyable but tough
Richard
P.S. Shout out to SAM (Simon) who has a terrific Twitch channel streaming his rounds - nice guy with great sense of humour and an absolute natural on the mic. Glad I got into this league even if only briefly or highly unlikely I would have chanced upon his channel. No doubt there are others of you out there with channels I’ll discover

Dang it. My best tourney at -13, and I miss a promotion mark by 1 stroke. I’m guessing scores will be higher next week. I played a few rounds on next weeks course and I couldn’t break par.

Damn that is incredibly unlucky- it’s still a projected mark but only three players ahead of you with rounds to play and they’re unlikely to go backwards on this course Keep it up - it’s only a matter of time I’m sure - 4 events and 4 cuts made is pretty impressive

Gonna level with you guys... I'm getting more & more frustrated with the Master difficulty settings & using the deliberate "fast" technique is not the way I want to ultimately play the game. Also, I prefer designing courses than actually playing. In 2 weeks time I'm giving up my tour card & dropping down into the Beer League where they use Pro difficulty. I will be joining a community society named "The Brew Crew" who have a maximum of 16 members split into 4 teams & mirror the events in the Beer League for their points scoring system. My streaming schedule will then read: Modeling Monday: Golf course design stream. Tee-Off Tuesday: Rounds 1 & 2 of The Beer League event incorporating "The Brew Crew" team paired rounds. Wacky Wednesday: 4 player, turn based Skins round. 3 & 4 Thursday: Rounds 3 & 4 of The Beer League event incorporating "The Brew Crew" head to head rounds. Feature Friday: Golf course design stream.

You’re welcome Simon I admit I’m a tad disappointed you’re stepping down but that is for purely selfish reasons that it was interesting seeing you tackle the same courses I do understand what you mean about intentional fasts Master settings are inappropriate for my standard but I just like the element of promotion and relegation in the Challenge Circuit and I think I’d find the Beer League a bit aimless although that is probably where I’ll end up in the long run - however when you have an extra dimension of a competition like the Brew Crew I completely understand the decision Anyway, best of luck mate - I still intend to look in at your Twitch when I can and hope we will be playing on one of your courses before long

I feel the same way. I set my shot up aiming for perfect and adjust for wind, lie slope and elevation. A few times a round I’m on the money and it feels great. But most of the time I’m far from the pin if I hit the green at all, and I’m scrambling. I’m positive the master tempo is just inconsistent even when your thumb motion is consistent. I played a round earlier where my tempo was going from very fast to very slow constantly. I’ve been playing enough to tell I was not that inconsistent. I’m still amazed how some players can shoot such low scores.

Tough, but fun course this week.
Always felt like I was about to get on a run and go really low - but then I'd stick one in the water or go OB. R1 -2, R2 -2, R3 -4.
Felt ready for a good last round but went into that OB right below the green on the 2nd to make a 7, before three-putting on the 3rd.
Must be the right challenge as it has me as frustrated as I would be normally when out on the course!

Pretty new here , best score yet with a -10 and a 66 on the last day , Plenty bogeys too but gave me a bit of confidence of at least not being cannon fodder on the site Until next week...

Does anyone know if there are ‘majors’ in CC tour? I can see some tournaments with higher purses but are there any traditional majors?

Went into the tournament with a bit of confidence from last week’s improbable second round comeback which meant I avoided demotion marks for the first time
After missing fairway on 1st I hit my second shot to six feet - then proceeded to take 4 putts for a double bogey. Absolute sickener
Steadied the ship staying at 2 over par after 6, then had another 4-putt catastrophe for a triple-bogey on 7 and eventually finished with a horrendous 79
Putting is absolutely killing me - I can putt ok for most of the round but cannot seem to have an entire round without missing a succession of tiddlers on a couple of holes
I should have taken a break but went straight into Round 2 - good start and thought there was a chance to break par but ended up even worse for an 80 after going OB twice when I felt sure it was in play - I also found water twice - nothing worse than seeing the ball dribble down a slope into the edge of a shallow stream and not being allowed to play it!
I actually thought it was an attractive course, much more interesting than last week, although there were some very odd greens with huge breaks side-by-side with very flat parts and I’m sure there were some dodgy out of bounds perimeters - very penal, there are some freakily high scores on individual holes again - I needed to avoid a double demotion mark to stay in this flight and that looks highly unlikely even with a few people really suffering on this course. I know I probably should give up on master settings until I hopefully get better and perhaps requalify but find it so addictive even just battling to avoid demotion marks every week!

Richard I feel your pain. I haven't had a demotion mark yet, but got destroyed in the 1st round with an 80. I think I was -1 going into hole 5 and went like 7 over for hole 5 and 6. I rebounded a little with even par for 2nd round. So +8 after 2 rounds. Doubt I have a chance to make the cut.

Hmmm I think you have a genuine chance of making it - it’ll be a close thing . I played my rounds first thing Sunday and don’t recall how much easier conditions were in second round. What a shame about holes 5 and 6 - decent scoring other than that
