It's not really that practical for building a genuine range.

In the designer just make a bunch of 1000 yard holes. It'll work but it's really boring. The range in game is sufficient for tempo and swing plane. Wind and elevation effects your better off just learning by playing.

I put ranges as amenities on my courses, and it admittedly would be cool if the game would let courses have functional ranges, where you could warm up 'in the same setting', so to speak. Same with practice greens ...

I was watching a Sloanertw twitch and he had a range looking practice area with a large body of water where you hit balls figuring yardages.

It would be nice if you could do this. Yes, you could design a hole and play it in the designer and keep hitting "Shot Rewind" to keep repeating the shot, but that takes a little time.
