I am supposed to get my Series X tomorrow. I have yet to receive a shipping notification from Microsoft, so not sure that will happen. I am currently on Launch Day Xbox One, so looking forward to the upgrade in performance. I also upgraded my TV to take advantage of 4K and 120 FPS, even though very few games will support 120. Looks like everything is being shipped overnight if pre ordered through Microsoft. I think we'll have it by tomorrow night. I'm giving my XB1 away tomorrow and taking the chance that the tours supports the new systems. I'll figure something out if that doesn't end up being the case. Maybe I'll buy a PS4 for cheap so I can keep up out there 😆 I can’t see how the tours will even know your playing on a series X it’s backwards compatible with the OG Xbox.

I think this has been touched on briefly but any guesses on how big the performance bump will be on the next gen Xbox. I’m still using the original Xbox one & the game is so choppy for me on Lidar courses it’s unplayable. Elite is @ Austin country club this week & it’s a Fantastic course but it’s so choppy I’m almost tempted to take a week off... is this being caused by my outdated hardware? Or do others have a similar issue on lidar courses w the newer versions of Xbox one? TIA Based on what HB Studios has said concerning backward compatibility so far for 2K21, a conservative guess would be "none" outside of faster game and course load times and auto HDR, both of which happen with no effort on their part. All they've said on the record about it is this: "There will not be a bespoke version of the game for the new platforms but PGA TOUR 2K21 will support backward compatibility."HB Studios may be underselling what they have planned, or just hedging their bets so no one will be disappointed if they don't deliver on a more ambitious claims. I'm starting to lose any hope of HB Studios making the necessary updates to 2K21's game code to provide an option to turn vsync OFF, so the Series X could run the game at 60 FPS+. If a development team like Avanlanche Studios won't put an option to disable vsync for Just Cause 3, which like 2K21 is relegated to 30 FPS on XBox One X, I don't think HB Studios would feel pressured to do so for 2K21. I have read that Microsoft's backward compatibility team has means available to them to supersede the lock in the emulator, and provide a means to run at 60 FPS, but this doesn't seem like the level of game for which they'd be willing to devote the resources to do something that radical. Then again, how much effort does it take to go into Unity code and insert the following to make it happen?: Application.targetFrameRate = 5000;
QualitySettings.vSyncCount = 0;You make it sound like it's potentially such an easy thing do, which just makes me think if that is the case, why the hell would they not do it if it makes the game they've created play considerably better?! Either it's an easy thing to do and they'll do it (because if it's easy, not doing it just makes no sense that I can think of)....or it's not an easy thing to do so they wont....and we'll just have to continue playing the constant XB tempo battle that is 2K21.

It may not be as easy as what I'm describing. I'm going off of what I'm picking up from people developing on Unity and posting and answering questions about it in Unity threads. HB Studios has already allowed TGC gamers the option to disable vsync on the original TGC game for the XBox One. I actually liked it for performance reasons, even though it caused 'screen tearing', which was mostly non-detectible to me. They later neutered the option to disable vsync after complaints that it caused screen tearing. To your point, and it's a good one, as to why they wouldn't disable vsync if it's really that easy to do, the only explanation I can offer is they are afraid of the backlash they'd get from OG XBox One, XBox One S, and XBox One X PGA TOUR 2K21 owners who would say they're being put at a competitive disadvantage, having to play the game at 30 FPS, on what is ostensibly the "same platform", while the Series X owners would be able to play it at 60 FPS. I can't argue that it's not a valid point, but they already have the same 'inequity' in existence on the PC platform, where you have PCs that play the game anywhere from 25 to 125 FPS. There's no ongoing backlash there... I think it eventually comes down to - you get what you pay for.

Valid point above. Same with PS.
You can improve your game play. .."but only if you buy a new console"
Not something I imagine will happen. But never know.

The series X will be getting much higher framerates so they could have the options to lock the framerates at 60 fps and anyone who has VRR on their TV if the framerates dips below 60 fps freesync/ hdmi 2.1 VRR TV's will kick in and adapt the TV's refresh rate. Also they could unlock the framerates for those with 120hz TV's. Would be nice to see some PC like customization as the series X is a close to a PC than any console has been. Most new TV's with hdmi 2.1 and 120hz will have hdmi 2.1 VRR or freesync. Vsync will be a thing of the past soon and VRR will be the norm.

It wouldn't be a console launch day without a good launch day - in store purchase attempt to share. Late last night I saw that the Walmart near me was going to take orders for in-store pickup starting at midnight last night. So I camped on the link and hit it repeatedly starting at a minute 'til, and rinsed and repeated until 1 AM, never seeing the link change status after who know how many refreshes. I gave up and hit the rack. This morning, I woke up at 7:30 AM, went to the same web page I'd been refreshing earlier, and it now says "In Stock for in store purchase only". It didn't show any stock in the other Walmart store in my area, so I thought, 'maybe there's something to this'. I haul buggy out to the Walmart store showing stock, make a bee-line to the Electronics department, and find a mid-70's age gentlemen there, taking a question from another customer, an elderly woman who doesn't look anything like your typical XBox Series X buyer. As I walk up she's saying "well your 'websyte' says you got 'em in stock, are you sure you ain't got 'em in back? "No mam, we don't... I checked almost an hour ago when the first person told me the same thing you're telling me now. She responded, "well I ain't never heard such as this in all my 'lyfe'". The "Sales Associate" then turned to me and asked if he could help me and I told him that he'd 'pretty much answered my question in responding to this young lady' (which didn't temper her attitude any . He asked what I'd seen on Walmart's web page and I said it showed "In Stock, for in store purchase only". The woman then tersely inserted "Yeah, it said you had plenty of 'em in stock!" It was all I could do to keep from busting out laughing at that point, but I collected myself and said, "well I didn't see any stock quantity listed anywhere on the page, so you may have me at a disadvantage mam." I might of kinda said it in an Eddie Haskell tone though The session ended with the elderly sales associate finally saying "all I can tell you is we don't have any." We all went our merry way from there. I left home thinking there might be a 10%, at best, chance of me actually picking up a Series X at Walmart based on that, so I wasn't too heartbroken. So I get home and call up the same webpage and refresh it, and now it has a pop-up countdown window that ticking down and currently says: Orders start in 2 hours, 43 min, and 49 sec. So I guess at noon today there will be a lottery for perhaps online purchase with in-store pickup? No further details are being given at this time. I guess I'll cast my lot again at noon and see what fate deals me

Series X arrived and played 1 round. Loading times are much faster. 17 seconds to start game and a couple seconds to start a round. Way faster then xbox one. Upgrade to 4K is also nice. Is game easier? With my elite controller it is the same. With the Xbox Series X controller, tempo might be a hair easier, but not sure yet. More testing needed.

Picked mine up yestewray but have had a chance to set up and play. Looking forward to it and your comments are encouraging. I too have the original XBox One circa 2013 so looking forward to graphics improvements. Improvement in loadtimes also sounds good!

So far to me, the game plays a whole lot smoother and it feels better too. I'm coming from the original XB1 so it feels like night and day. Maybe I want to believe this and may be exaggerated but it just does to me.
I only played a couple of rounds but early signs are promising. And load times are so much faster. Not sure if tempo is more consistent yet, need a couple days of playing at least. The haptic feedback also feels better with the new controller, which I love by the way, it has grippy plastic now.
Edit - I played the Platinum round for fun and I've never hit so many perfects and gray fasts. Not sure if I'm getting better or if the game is finally reacting to what I'm doing. I'll update in a few days with a bigger sample size but just thought some would like to know.

My guy has glitched out during my backswing a few times though. Hard to explain exactly what happens but it's not good lol.
Didn't effect anything because I just stop my swing but I hope it's either a fluke or HB fixes it asap.

Someone reported something along these lines in the 2K forum bug report section, as it relates to their Series X. Just for kicks, try turning the "Depth of Field" graphics setting to "OFF" in the graphics setting menu, and see if that has any effect on it. I find that I like the looks of the game's graphics better with it off, plus it also gets rid of an odd, ball ghosting issue while the ball is in flight. I also think turn DOF off makes the game run a little bit more efficiently.

I tried desperately from the instant the pre-order started back in September, until this morning at Walmart after the local store indicated "In Stock for in store purchase". I was there 15 minutes later and the "Sales Associate" told me their website was in error... that they never had any in stock. It's good to hear the game loads so much faster, and the 4K look in this game is a true upgrade. From all I've read today though, it sounds like they didn't do anything to enable Series X owners to get around the game's 30 FPS frame rate lock, which is a crying shame. The Series X could run this game at 60 FPS in 4K without batting an eye *IF* they would allow us to either disable the vsync or opt for a 60 Hz vsync setting, like they do on the PC version. The XBox Series X is really nothing more than a very powerful gaming PC without a keyboard and a mouse... why is this so hard to do!?

I did have the glitch where the backswing flickered. I tried to take off low-latency mode in Xbox settings and that made it worse. Field of depth setting didn't change anything.
Small sample size, but it appears I am better with the Series X vs the OG Xbox One. Interesting in that I am not better when I use my elite controller, but I am better when I use my Series X controller. The new Series X controller has lower latency which I am guessing is creating the benefit of more consistency. The game is not easy with Series X, it is just a little more consistent.
TGC Tours works fine with Series X. I played my first two rounds of CC-C tonight and rounds posted to leaderboard no problem.
I am just waiting now for all my games to download. I tried to Network transfer and that didn't work for some reason.

I am just waiting now for all my games to download. I tried to Network transfer and that didn't work for some reason. I got my Series S set-up last night and the network transfer worked fine. You do have to have both consoles set to Network Transfer. I've played 12 holes so far and hard to tell if tempo is any better. The stick on the new controller feels a touch looser than my relatively new XB1 controller. It feels like Perfect might be a touch more consistent but I've also had some weird outcomes too ... mind you it was still transferring 1.6TB of games at the time!
