Lots of nice stuff here - wonder whether you'd benefit from a more muted green and fairway tone though? The neon fairways, tees and greens really grab the eye compared to the rest of the very natural texture colours. Usually a good place to start is to keep the same texture for all (i.e. number 7 for all) through the set. Just a thought, keep up the good work I have tried some others and I’m not set on it yet. I do like the rough texture and plan to leave it. For now I’m using these bright colors to help me see the contouring and etc in the fairways and on the greens. I appreciate you pointing it out and plan to look around to see what I can come up with before I publish it. I worked quite a bit on the course today and started on my back nine today. I’m just trying to get my back 9 routed good and able to have some good views of the front nine. I may have 2 no more than 3 holes along the ocean/water.

Trust me, any water can be in play at Masters and Legendary difficulty, lol! That aside, this is a gorgeous looking course. I do keep thinking about what happens when a hurricane hits though! Thanks for the compliment. I guess the best thing is to hope no hurricanes happen in this part of the world. At least not in my PGA2K world!

Just a thought, keep up the good work I think it's really marked what a huge difference the different tones can make. I was really struggling with my course entry over the last couple of weeks and was genuinely thinking about going back to a blank canvas and starting from scratch as i just wasn't feeling it. Changed the heavy rough and fairway textures and all of a sudden I'm really into it again and like what I see. Didn't think making such a simple change would have such a difference in how I view the course.

I spent some time today and finished the layout of my back 9. As mentioned above I’m playing around with some textures and colors for my rough and fairway. I haven’t changed any of the greens yet as this bright color helps me see changes to elevation easier for now. I jumped in and started sculpting on number 10/14 which run along side each other. Here are some shots of 14 as I was completing the work. first shot is from behind the green. This is a short hole (driveable from 3 tees and maybe all 4 depending on wind) so the green is tricky And will require precision. Because I CAN be reached with driver doesn’t mean you should try! Here is a photo from the front of the green. I tried to put quite a bit of strategy in this hole from the tee shot to the approach. Anyone trying to reach with driver has to avoid the mound protecting the front right. It will kick balls to the left and down the slope to the collection area seen in the photos above. A small miss can end up in big trouble. Also, I did a little work on 18. This green sits right behind the 14 green and the 10 tee boxes. This is the view should you choose to lay up for your approach. I tried to plan this to have several of the elements from the front nine in the view (marina, lighthouse) Many severely sloped dunes to the left makes you think on the second shot if going for it in 2 is worth the risk. Im having a lot of fun working on this. This is my absolute first course ever created and I started from a blank flat canvas. I hate that I didn’t get entered in time for the contest but I have hope I can be put in as an alternate.

Looks fantastic so far. I've some catching up to do. I've only plot, routing and 2 holes 80% complete so far. I was finishing off another course I'd started before the entry for the design comp.

This is looking great so far - looks like the greens are the exact opposite of mine - really tight!

Some are tighter than others. I tried to sort of let the distance and the types of options dictate that. The hole above is a 285-315 yard par 4. The best way to play that hole is to hit less than driver (unless you are good at pitching). I figure for a hole you will be hitting less than driver and maybe even a mid-long iron from the tee...the green should be tight and punish “so-so” shots but reward someone who plays smart and give a chance at birdie or better.
This hole in particular actually can be played with driver, 3/5 wood to lay up and leave a pitch or full lob wedge or a 4 or 5i if you feel that you would prefer to attack with a full shot on a gap wedge or a pitch with a longer club. I tried to make the angles so that one of those is the best option for different pins and different tees. Each hole will have 4 pins and I’m trying really hard to do 4 tee boxes that can have different strategy on each hole depending on which tee box and flag are chosen.
I may completely miss the mark with this course but I’m trying to provide options and angles and provide different ways to play each hole even if some are not so obvious. This is literally my very first course so maybe I don’t understand angles, options or strategy as well as I would hope.

This wouldn’t be such a horrible place to live would it? looking back across the 14 dunes and fairway, can barely see 10 green and hole 7’s green as well. Throw in the beach all from a poolside view and I’m ready to move!

More work completed on my course. I spent some time working on the 12th green and two houses that sit behind/beside it this morning. I still have some dunes, bunkering work and planting to do around it but here is a view of it from the 13th teeing area (you would be looking to your left from the tees to get this view as it’s obviously not the view you will actually see on 13 playing the hole but I like how it shows my work so far around 12 green) this is a look at the same 12th green but from above and out to the ocean. (While I’ve built in several ocean views on the back 9, holes 11 and 12 will be the only holes directly on the water or with it possibly in play. A bit of a change up from the front with several holes bringing the ocean/marsh into play.) I’ve just started to do some sculpting making the knobs and beginnings to some of the dunes to the right of the green. I will be adding some bunkering and some more rough/ragged dunes left if the green and below the house.

Completed some more work on 12 green area. I got almost all of the sculpting done with the exception of finishing the green itself. Still some planting to be done obviously but I love how this is turning out! I made some changes to the details around the house and will have to plant some around the wall.

Any chance you're going to put that house next to 12 on the market? I may put in an offer! :-)

The image of hole 18 layup area says there is 86’7” of elevation change? Is that accurate? How does a seaside course where every other hole has 0-15’ of elevation have a finishing hole with that much land movement?

There are other holes on the back side than the ones I’ve pictured. 15, 16 and 17 work up the hill and 18 works down it. There are places on the coast that have 100’ of elevation change near the beach that are not cliffs but more sloping hills. That layup area is the lowest point on the back side except for the oceanfront properties. The green is raised from that point and so far I like how the hole plays.
But, this is fictional, and for fun and it’s just how I imagined the piece of property lays.

Got some more work in today. I spent a lot of time on the 10th hole/13th hole greens and shared areas. I still have a lot of work to do there towards the green with plantingand only have pictures that show 10 but this stretch 10-14 has quickly become my favorite part of the course. here is a photo of the view for approach shots. This is taken from behind the left bunker at the tee shot landing area. This is another from the fairway forward the fairway bunkers/dunes. Here is the view from tee boxes. Again more planting but I’m pretty close with all of my textures and sculpting And any large planting to my finished product. I probably should have put this one first but here is an overview of the entire hole, at least from just in front of the tee box. I have made some pretty big progress in the last few days. I have switched around a lot which I probably shouldn’t do but it’s just how my brain works. I have to just hop around as ideas for each area come to me.
