Awesome! Ben and Joe finally designed a course with more waterfalls than me! 54 total! I see your 54, and I'll raise you 1 on my next course. I've been watching this one as Ben has been streaming it's design. It turned out awesome guys! Well done. Dig the bunkers, planting, and greens. Even though the greens aren't BSV difficult... they'll test your short game skill for sure! Great publish.

Yeah I've also watched a lot of this being done and it's been great to see the detail they put in - especially measuring those bunkers and flattening the base - sheesh. As I often do in RL though, if the weather is not great when I get to the first tee, I'm heading straight to your pub which I'm told is the best pub ever created in TGC? I've been looking forward to giving this a play and will do so tonight.

Wow guys, what a terrific track this is! Absolutely masterful job by two of the best in the game! I also watched a lot of the design on this one through twitch and was definitely not disappointed. I’m very proud to say I shot -3 on very firm conditions with high SE wind on pin 3 and had to absolutely bust my a$$ to do it. Thanks so much Ben and Joe for this wonderful addition to our game.
PS - Special thanks Ben for broadcasting your design sessions as I always learn so much by watching you create. The trick of placing a temporary pin to check the slopes on your bunkers is absolute genius! I’ll be stealing that for future designs; hope you don’t mind!

Thank you for all the kind comments and to jimgem for the brilliant showcase video. The little pin trick isn't something I've used before, but seemed a good way to check the flat bottomed bunkers were working properly at the beginning when I was learning the technique. Haven't ever done that style of bunkering before, and I'm happy with how they came out (needless to say, Joe's ones are immaculate).

I probably should've packed a Driver or at least 2 wood in the bag & was thinking 'wtf have I gotten myself into' through the first few holes, but alas with some perseverance & proper bravery & scramble was extremely happy to finish my round 2 under. Old Ainsdale is a real beast. It was actually the 2 par 3's on the back nine that did me in and where my only bogey's came from lol course is so delicious loved every moment of it & both your architectural styles gelled so well together. So much interest and devil and purpose in every green. Thought the par 3 4th was a real stunner I could just sit on that tee box for hours feeding that slope into the day 1 pin. Very, very well done gentleman. Immaculate stuff.

Glad you liked the greens as well - they were a lot of fun to build. Most of it was taking the land as it was and working with some careful smoothing to massage them into place; not many of the greens are artificial in that sense and all of the green sites were found naturally on the plot we built way back on day one. It’s one of the most fun projects I’ve worked on and always felt pretty easy - it certainly won’t be the last links in this vein you see from us.
