I wasn't around when courses were ported from TGC2 to TCG2019 and was after some advice.
I just finished a course whereby I had to sink hundreds of small bushes around bunkers to get a thick grassy look and I was wondering if many trees/shrubs changed much when ported over to TGC2019? I mainly ask because I'm doing another course now with a similar amount of planting (pretty much maxed out meter) and would hate to have to fix up all that work potentially on two courses. If so, I might hold off planting until after 2k21 comes out. So did many people have big issues with plants changing with the last porting process?

When porting from TGC1 to TGC2, there were few problems. That's mainly because the object models remained unchanged.
In TGC2019, HB made a really big change to trees. While it allowed for us to rotate trees and greatly improved performance of trees (in earlier games, trees had a major impact on frame rates), the tree models did change.
Also, in TGC1 there were no splines. In TGC2 there were splines, but they didn't have any kind of auto-fill. In TGC2019, splines behave differently and can be auto-filled.
I expect that some work will be needed to make a port look good in the new game.

I'm definitely worried about porting one project I'm in the middle of now. :/

I'm definitely worried about porting one project I'm in the middle of now. :/ You mean when the objects you put together to create a custom one change shape and size.

I'm definitely worried about porting one project I'm in the middle of now. :/ I am with you Wes, I am just finishing up a Lidar course and I am sure I will have to do a lot of re-work to port it over. I do not think I will do any more design work until the new game comes out - which is unfortunate because it does fill up the hours. On the other hand, if it is a big problem, maybe a lot of the poorer courses (including my own) won't get ported over.

I ported one over and it has been pretty crazy. Floating trees everywhere. Every time I think I've found them all, I find another one. Other than that everything else seemed good

Meh, I did what Crazycannuck did and just ported 'em all no questions asked. I played each one once and said that's good enough. I just want to spend my time in the designer working on stuff instead of working on courses I designed months ago. Definitely change stuff if it looks really bad though.

When I ported The Green Inferno everything seemed fine. I just flattened a couple areas around pins because I wasn’t sure if orange was okay yet

Just do a quick zoom around for any egregious issues. Some courses port beautifully, some others don't
