Sister club to gamesdecent 's The Pastimes Club, Montellago Golf Club is heavily inspired by Pasatiempo. For the first time, I built the whole plot and planted the barranca first, before copying the file and sending to Petty. We then routed independently and worked from there. He found the whole project miles easier than me, surfacing and sculpting all of his course in about ten hours, whilst it took me three weeks to find a routing I liked... Anyway, here we are. The greens are pretty slopey and you'll struggle if you miss your spot off the tee. But, find the short grass and avoid getting over-aggressive and you'll score. Oh and there's some off-course stuff as well. Play both - you'll find some holes use the same land in the same way, some holes are near identical, some will approach the same spots from different directions and some are totally unique. But the land itself is exactly the same. It's been a lot of fun and I'm hoping we'll see further takes on the same land from PithyDoctorG and joegolferg.

What a great natural looking course, loved the short uphill par 4 5th. Managed to finish 1 under on pin 1, fairways are tricky without them being pinched and the greens are tough if you land on the wrong side of the pin. Fantastic job Ben, nothing to complain about with this one

Really fun to see what you two came up with on the same plot. Both excellent courses. My favorite hole was the 600 yard par five that was hugely downhill once you got over the infinity bunker/fairway.
Excellent work by both of you. Alister would be proud

Meant to say a huge thank you to Energ1ser as well for giving great feedback throughout. Holes 9, 12 and 18 owe a lot to his suggestions!

Another great course here b. One of the toughest under 7000 yard courses I’ve played to date but nothing I would deem “unfair”. Thought I might go low after getting a deuce on 1 but boy was I wrong! Loved the elevation changes and challenging greens. Keep up the good work!

So is every course that comes off this plot going to be great? Holy crap! I loved The Pastimes Club, and I loved this one as well... and we still have two great designers coming up with something on it as well. Very fun idea, and I think it would be really cool to see 4 routing maps sort of overlayed somehow to see the differences. Great job guys!

Brought into 2K21. An important suggestion: play on fast or medium green speeds for enjoyment - the defaults are higher if it were to be considered again for tour usage (it can handle 187s as well, but you'd need to be crazy...)

Eh... b101 I know your courses are generally meant to be on the tougher side but I'm not a miracle worker! Having recently played and enjoyed Santa Ynez on tour, I was keen to fire this one and Pastimes up again. Whilst still a very good course, I felt like Pastimes perhaps didn't 'age' ideally from 2019 to 2K21. This on the other hand will always play beautifully I imagine. Perhaps the hallmark of a truly great course. This is the work of an elite designer. I was gonna post a pic of my scorecard but I stunk the place up so decided not to ha! (If possible, I'd be interested to know what the lighting/cloud settings were here if you could PM me that info maybe? It's a look I think I'd like to use someday).

It's obviously an amazing plot and a great test of golf to match. Don't tend to think of 6800 yard courses as being overly tough in this game but I can't remember the last time I broke par on this one. Great course though - glad it got a nice bump.
