Id rather the person doing the show reads their course getting knocked out but I'm sadistic that way...

Hey! I can run your little Roast errrr award show Given the current situation, that would be like inviting the leader of the KKK to give a speech directly to the Black Panthers.....

Well I was going to let this be but I have to mention something. How can we not see that this "worry" over having a participant that could even win do a results show is just proof of the problem?
For crying out loud I didn't make finals but only by a whisker. I set up the judging criteria in the WCoD contest. I created the judging sheets... would anyone like to call me into question? Why? Why not?
Arielatom says it's not worth riskin, b101 talks about something being a great look, mayo talked about optics. Again...what does this say about all of this?
The contests here are for FUN. They are a showcase. We have judges that aren't competitors. We have contest runners that aren't judges. How on earth would a person doing a results show who is in the contest sully anything? They aren't involved in the process at any point?
The concern may seem valid but I see it as a symptom of a bigger problem. These contests have become far to serious and people seem to define their designer skill by where they finish. Is that true? Is that how this works? Not at all! It's a showcase, it's just a fun endeavor that allows folks to get competitive juices going sure, but at the end of the day it's irrelevant and just silly fun.
Not only that but Dylan? (Dylan would be on the TOP of the list of folks I would trust to show absolutely NO bias of any kind in any setting. They guy abhors conflict) I know I know... doesn't matter who it is...optics. Again, this is dumb. Optics only matter if the folks watching the show BELIEVE there to be a potential problem. Unless someone is going to watch it and think "I'm getting screwed and it's because the guy that made this show is in on the fix!" there are no bad optics.
Remember how I said the contests mentality needs to change? Yeah...this is part of the problem. If you want to tell me I'm wrong and show me that I am...go for it. I'm happy to be proven to be wrong.

Just let Dan do it.
As a community we're taking it too seriously. It's not just me or any other one person and that is not going to change overnight. There will be butthurt feelings flying, even more so because we're all stuck inside for COVID. If anyone hasn't gotten a sense of that possibility, I don't know what else to say.

Reeb, my comment is simple. If we have someone who isn't a contestant (and better yet, on the judging panel) that wants and is ready to do it, it should be that person over someone who's involved. Not because I believe anyone will cheat, but because I think that's the most obvious option. I don't see how that is controversial.
I can't put it any simpler than that.

but why is it obvious? My point is that the reason it's obvious is to avoid bad optics. The fact that it's bad optics relies on the perception of those watching that there could be a problem. It all comes back to things being taken to seriously.
I need to say that I agree. If someone outside the contest is ready to roll.. great. My issue is that there are perceptions of impropriety that keep boiling up and causing issues and this mindset is a symptom of that mindset. I'm not calling you wrong, or mayo wrong, or anyone WRONG... just saying that it goes to show the larger issue.

Imagine a contestant in any other type of contest, TV show, cooking show, etc. announcing the results, regardless of how important it is or what the prize is.

A contest on a TV, with prizes, and a wide audience...obviously Again, the fact you're comparing this to those is part of the issue.
