Wait...an “independent contractor,” as all tour players are defined as far as I’m aware based on a variety of sources of info previously learned (articles, sports news, podcasts, etc.), has to have a waiver from the PGA tour to play in another tour’s event? That’s news to me. It's weirdly really, really hard to find any information online about how it all works exactly. But from what I've heard and understand is I believe players are automatically granted three "releases" per season to play in non-PGA Tour sanctioned events, but they have to apply for those releases in advance I think. I may be wrong, but that's how I understood it. Some of this came out after the Premier Golf League news broke. I remember Monahan sent out an email basically saying any players committing to that tour would be kicked off the PGA Tour due to rules and relegations that no player can take an action that could harm the PGA Tour financially or its reputation. Edit: Obviously there's tons of other factors like players who have cards on both tours and things like that, which I don't really understand or know much about lol. But it does seem the Tour has way more control over independent contractors than you would think.

Micro transactions dont have to be a bad thing. What is bad is Pay to Win. The most successful microtransactional game over the last couple of years has been Fortnite. And they made it clear from day 1 that spending money in the game will not give you any advantage whatsoever. and they made a FREAKING FORTUNE. If i see a game that is pay to win, i wont pay, i will grind the hell out of it to stick it too them. but I spent money on fortnite because i wanted the cool looking stuff. if they went this path, pay to get official gear etc but not have it affect the gameplay, then they still have massive potential to make money, but not affect the core of the gameplay. Another upside to this is it may be more enticing to sponsors to not have to worry about how their in game attributes stack up to other sponsors. As long as it looks cool it represents their product fine

Spot on, and in NBA 2K, none of the gear or apparel helps your player's attributes. It's just a cosmetic thing. Now you do have to drop about 40 bucks to get your player's attributes maxed, but you can also do it with time. Obviously not a fan of that at all.

Path of Exile has done the same. No impact on gameplay, but they’ve made a killing on micro transactions as well. Hopefully it’s limited to cosmetics only and doesn’t impact gameplay

Just been looking at the various Twitter feeds. It's like HB Studios went and pitched their game in the Dragon's Den and got the investment they were after. I bet they gave up more than the 10% they were offering though.
Cautiously optimistic......

I'll have to do a youtube search later unless you know the link for it already?

With each release in a video game series I expect the difficulty to increase not the opposite. If you are looking for a breezy round play beginner clubs or Mario and Luigi golf. Your general point isn’t invalid, but the dude you’re speaking to has a pretty good depth of experience with the TGC franchise. A tiny bit more respect would be ideal for anyone really than saying “go play Mario golf.” No disrespect intended. If something is stressfully unenjoyable it can sometimes be somewhat beneficial, occasionally so, to move on. I didn’t know the back story of the poster. My bad if feathers have been ruffled.

I'm an Arcade guy at heart, so I'm extremely hopeful 2K can spice the game up!! For golfing purist, I'm sure HB/2K will be keeping TST around, so no worries. Just give us more options, such as precision vs. forgiveness vs. spin, etc. Or Forged irons vs. oversized irons, etc. If you're a guy who has a hard time keeping it in the cone, oversized irons, or clubs with a higher forgiveness rating wouldn't cause as much deviation when you don't strike the ball straight, but wouldn't hit the ball quite as far. Hit the ball straight? Get clubs with a smaller sweet spot but offer more spin, etc.

All I want is a game that has realistic physics and zero exploits (im thinking of you flick swing). Attribute points towards building your player's ratings would be fine as long as you cant buy attribute points, or maybe you get X number of attribute points to allocate to different parts of your game and can adjust them however you want before starting a society tournament (think Distance, Woods accuracy, irons accuracy, wedges accuracy, putting, bunker play, workability, spin), and then you can pick between Beginner, Pro, and Master clubs. Doing that I think would be fair and would create a lot of different play styles.
Of course, none of it matters if the game becomes an arcadey birdie-fest where you just drop an extra $100 and you immediately can go -18 at Augusta.

I’m excited for a new game. If it’s still a tempo swing I’ll be getting this on PS4 though.
