Has a release date been mentioned? Is there an industry standard time line for new games? If there’s more news this time next week when would we expect a release date?

Click here for entire articleTwo of the biggest gaming publishers in the business, Activision Blizzard and Electronic Arts, have shared new numbers about how much money their games make from microtransactions--and it's a lot.
Activision Blizzard measures microtransactions through a bucket called "in-game net bookings," and these reached $956 million for the quarter ended March 31. That's up by $162 million (+20 percent) from $794 million during the same period last year.
Moving to Electronic Arts, the company measures microtransactions through a label called "live services." For the quarter ended March 31, EA made $789 million from live services, which is down from $845 million from the same period last year (which benefited from the launch of Apex Legends). For the trailing 12 months, EA has been a whopping $2.779 billion from live services. This is not a full or a complete picture of how much money EA makes from microtransactions, as revenue from mobile ($138 million) and full-game downloads ($190 million) are not counted toward live services. That's a ton of money EA, how about paying for some better game testing before releasing sht? Hopefully 2K will get a beta going before release and invite some of us peeps from TGCTours in it

I'll wait until the 3rd patch is released before getting too excited.

I get all the negativity and concern, but we've been wanting some action from HB and 2K for ages. Yes, there are some worries, but that's far outweighed by excitement for me. We really aren't far off from an absolutely outstanding game and I don't think it'd take much in the way of tweaks to get there. About two months ago I didn't think we'd ever have a new game, so I'm pretty darn skippy this morning.
Looking forward to next week!

At this point HB has lowered my expectations so much that I'll be happy if they actually continue to support the game for at least six months. Anything else they add or change would just be a bonus.

I will buy this day one but don't be shocked if this is abandoned again 4 months after launch as HB works on new software for the PS5/XB1 Series X and dumps this like their last 2 golf games.

The timing is pretty weird to me. You're probably right that it won't be a game they support very much if they're trying to get a PS5 version out next summer. Although if it's a yearly release, I guess that's not a huge deal.

It's funny as TGC 2 was released in June 2017 and then TGC 2019 in August 2018 so after the name change you would have thunk yearly release but nope. They skipped a year in 2019.
Will PGA 2K21 be a yearly release?...TBD

Wonder if the reveal was "ready to go" a few months back, but they held back due to Covid-19 and the golf season being on hold.
Seeing as the PGA Tour is back pretty soon, now is a good time to push this forward.
Wishful thinking that it's not a million miles away from being good for release, especially by the time the majors are due this year. Definitely need something new to be excited about right now!

I'm very excited as well! Just love golf games and this one has been my favorite series by miles. I looked up my stats yesterday which I have never done with TGC 2019. I have played 496 courses and somewhere in the neighborhood of 1,800 rounds. That's a lot of golf and man did I get my money's worth. Yes, the game has flaws...phantom breaks, no spin on flops and short irons, heavy rough in the middle of fairways, very poor season mode. The no spin on shots was made possible by people that play this game complaining about the spin and how it was too easy on shorter shots ( at least that's what I remember??)...anyway, last time I watched a golf tournament the guys were spinning and stooping balls all over the place, so let's put that back in the game please Aside from that, let's just hope we get a golf game that plays well and be excited for things like what courses we may be getting, what improvements the designer might get, etc. It's too easy to be negative, there's plenty of that around here already. I personally can't wait to see what they can do with this golf game with the new next gen hardware next year!!!!!!!!!!! For now, I'm hoping for a smooth playing golf game, no tempo swing (or at least fix what they have now) and some good ball physics. Come on May 14th

I would say this game was abandoned because 2k had taken over and all efforts were going into this new one.
