I'm trying to create my home course by using the Lidar tool. I've watched the twitch stream and followed it and the tutorial video. I grabbed the data from the National Map site and followed every step. When I try to generate the height map I get the following error:
Processing: IL_KaneCo_2008_000464.las
Using metadata: IL_KaneCo_2008_000464.xml
Could not load IL_KaneCo_2008_000464.las
We rely on a web service to get lidar information
If you can't reach prj2epsg.org, lidar import won't work for now
Failed to retrieve data from prj2epsg.org API:
Message: timed out
No valid lidar files found, no action taken
Directory was: C:/Users/Dan/Documents/TGC Designer Files/Eaglebrook CC
When I try to access the prj2epsg.org link it is saying here in a browser nothing comes up. Any ideas what is going on?

Yes, I'm having the same problem. The site prj2espg.org stopped responding yesterday afternoon. I don't think that we can do anything but wait.

I've downloaded the new version and I keep getting the same error. Frustrating. You can always try to force the EPSG, find the correct one from Spatial Reference

I've spent way too many hours on this over the last day or so haha.....
I couldn't get the newest 2019 Lidar to work at all.
Using the 000464.las Lidar from your picture...it worked but was terrible in the game, spikes of terrain and ridges everywhere.
Using Lidar with a date of 2015, (12 small tiles) it worked a treat.
1st off you need to go to back to OSM, you have the 7th green and the water hazard by the 16th tee mislabelled, neither of those came through to the game.
Force the EPSG with.....3435, and you should be good to go.

Champ 39, first thank you for the help.
I'm going to try and figure this out now because I am new to all of this and see if I can get it to work. I don't recall seeing a 2015 file but I will try it again. Also no idea what force EPSG means but I will re-read and watch tutorial

If it is the right number your OSM and terrain will line up.

It's the best quality of all the Lidar available, but it makes my PC groan a bit, I'll be back in a bit with a progress report.๐

The 2019 Lidar is good to go (Force EPSG 3435), I didn't draw my box right this morning...I've processed 6 Lidar tiles (30 mins on my poor PC), I think you'll need to do 9 tiles though...I lost the 9th fairway as it's right on the boundary of one of the tiles:
Don't forget to change the 7th green and 16th water hazard in OSM before you run the Lidar!!!
From the National Map, you need to dowload the 9 LAS 2019 tiles to fully cover the course:
You're going to have to do a fair bit of masking, I can't see you getting the near 100 houses into the course..good luck

I was able to get it to import and into the designer. I didn't touch OSM because the course is already in there and looks good. However when going into the game I noticed the first hole is completly wrong (maybe I am not fart enough into the tutorial yet) as during a test it has me teeing off from the green towards the tees and it is much shorter then it should be.

You need to carefully inspect and probably re-do the OSM at least in part. A crappy tracing of the course will give crappy results. Except for sharp bends and curves or corners don't put the points too close together, the game does a good job of connecting the points in a smooth manner.

I looked it over and it seems really spot on to me on OSM, like someone did a really nice job so I'm not sure what would need to change but I will look again. If you pull up Eaglebrook CC in Geneva Il in OSM you can see it.
