Hello everyone. Is there any particular reason to disable rough/heavy rough completely when designing or is it more a preference thing?

Anywhere that does not have a surface laid down is considered heavy rough (a bare plot with nothing added is all heavy rough). It’s just when you actually place “heavy rough” it makes the color more uniform, like it’s being taken care of, so adding heavy rough is purely aesthetic. I’ve seen some courses and I’ve designed one that did not have rough around the fairways or greens, just went from fairway to heavy rough. It can give a more wild, unkept look and make the course play a bit harder since anything slightly off the fairway is in big trouble on long holes. It’s really up to the designer if that’s what they’re going for

Laid down heavy rough gives you a slightly better lie than natural heavy rough.

Thanks so much for taking the time answer. Have a great day But don’t cover a brand new plot in your own heavy rough. It will give you wavy lines when you lay down other surfaces.
