So, while i've been an avid fan of this game and its older counterparts for years, one of my golf buddies is now just jumping on board due to all the time now spent at home.
Trying to talk him through buying the game and the basics on his son's xbox was... for lack of a better word..precious.
We thought we were all ready to go.... I added him as a friend... but then a message popped up on his end because he doesn't have Xbox Live.
Before, I tell him to go ahead and subscribe, I'm just curious what you can and can't do without xbox live.
I realize h2h online matches prob wouldn't work, but could we still set up an online society,?
Will I be able to play against his ghosts, and vice versa?
Can he still access all of the user creator courses?
Does it really make that big of a difference for this game?
Thanks for all help and suggestions.

i have not got xbox live anymore but i am sure you can still play with your friend but its not 100% live it would be a slight delay on his shot.I don't think the chat works without xbox live but you can access everything without the need for it.
You select a course, tell your friend to play it as well,Add live rival from ghost menu, then click turn order, its how it was in tgc/tgc2.

He would need Live to play h2h but you should be able to do an online society. Yes you can play each other’s ghost and he will be able to play other user created courses. The only difference in TGC should be the h2h. I don’t have Live as 95% of my time is spent in TGC and don’t have any interest in h2h play
