Some people get excited about tap in birds. This is what does it for me...

I just finished my 3rd round and all I can say is wow. Everything is really well executed and this will be hard to take down in the contest. Cheers, lad and good luck! ☘️

A happy bump from the dead for possibly the most impressive gameplay video I've seen. Worth 20 mins of your time to watch this masterclass (and listen to John)

Great shot on 18 btw, what a way to finish the round. Vitaly is insane.

Haha for sure. Hard to make a course too difficult for these guys. The approach into 12 is even better IMO. I set that pin on 18 up to allow you to funnel it close and holed out myself during playtesting. Never seen anyone get within 15ft on pin four at 12.

Did I miss the part where it says scout cam, follow cam and loft box required to play? 😀
Ben, I usually enjoy your courses. Unfortunately this one and Montellago didn’t do it for me at all. The greens ruin any sense of realism IMO. (I played default conditions on both courses.) The hole design and routing on both were clever and challenging, but the greens moved too much into arcade mode for my liking.
I don’t know exactly what your goals were or if you felt like you achieved them, but for me the courses had much too much muchness. For reference, I clung to a -1 playing no aids and no loft box (that’s USE style) on Brian’s Pastimes course, and had a blast doing it. By the ninth hole here and on Montellago, though, I’d had enough.
Great terrain design for Montellago and beautiful views here at Black Salt. A-plus on the eye candy.
EDIT: Also for reference, if you care, Greenstone and Marlette are two of the finest fictional courses in the game. 👍🏻

It's a major course... not sure what else you were hoping to get out of it? It's designed for the very top PGA guys playing in one of the biggest contests of the year, playing with all of those aids. Play without scout cam, follow cam and loft box and I really don't know how to help you. Don't expect the course to be something it isn't.

Then again, that’s all of 6800 yards, so you need the challenge from somewhere. Mackenzie greens are wild, so it was what I was going for. Appreciate it isn’t for everyone though. Equally, Marlette’s greens are probably the least favourite I’ve done - far too many good shots go unrewarded, meaning you end up playing defensive. Look closer at BSV and Montellago and you can be aggressive if you are precise. If you played both USE then you’re into a world I don’t design for though and the risks are your own - the landing zones are tight to fit with the intended difficulty.

That’s why I added the comment about me not knowing if you’d achieved your goals with BSV or not. Apparently you have. I’ll leave my posts intact as a warning to TST or USE players: danger awaits you here. (Well, maybe not so much to TST players; they still use the loft box.) 😀

just played it twice, major versions, pin 1 and 4. Unable to break par either time. Simply a masterfully done course. Beat me up pretty good. Looking forward to playing it a few more times, I am determined to break par on the major version!

But when I finally did it, it was a very satisfying fist pump moment.

They made a liar out of me apparently, so close. I wrote this quote after playing this course once and hadn't played any of the other entries yet. It was revolutionary, the greens were brutal but you always had a good option and the rest of the course made you think hard to set yourself up properly. This is absolutely the difficulty that the pro players need to be playing on because it forces you to be a better golfer. Mediocre golf is unacceptable on this course, good golf is unacceptable on this course only exceptional golf is rewarded. It forces you to aim for perfection with all of your shots, to use critical thinking about your strategy and how to calmly adapt to the unexpected. This is the only way to truly achieve mastery in anything and this course is the best example I've seen in this game. Much respect.
