What is everyone's favorite nine hole par structure? Mine has become 3/3/3, but I don't think 6/6/6 makes a good 18. \
What's yours? Vote in the poll!

3/3/3 would be fun by itself, but then the other 9 would end up being 2/5/2 or something like that. Maybe only 1 par 5 or 1 par 3.
I don't think you could create more than 5 intresting and unique par 5s and par 3s on the same course. I could be wrong but it would become a real challenge not to have a few holes that were basically the same if it were 6/6/6.

You can’t beat 3/3/3 for nine holes in my opinion. Perfect set up for variety of hole lengths and makes you use as many clubs as possible. I did a 6/6/6 design and took great care in the routing and strategy, making sure holes that inevitably had to be similar length were nowhere near each other on the course and played differently

I went for 2 par 3's and 2 par 5's and 5 par 4's.
All odd holes would be par 4's and evens would be a mix of par 3's and 5's, the 9th would be either a long or short par 4. The 10th would be the opposite of 9 then the back 9 would be the same as the front 9. It breaks the course up a bit so you don't have the same length of hole following another.

One thing to watch about this is alt-shot. If every par 3 and par 5 were on even holes, the same player would be taking the tee shot on all of them.

Too many par fives. Two is enough in my opinion.

4-4-5-3-4-3-5-3-4: 35 Always like courses that prevent log-jams in the first 3 holes. The first par-5 needs to be a 3-shot hole and the first par-3 should be under 180 cause you know "That Guy" with the 24 Handicap and $3000 set of clubs is going to look for that shanked Pro V1 as long as possible.

I'm really not bothered. It's something I have never considered. A course can be great whether it starts and ends with a par 3, 4 or 5.
