NEW DELHI (AP) — India’s confirmed coronavirus infections passed 5 million on Wednesday, still soaring and testing the feeble health care system in tens of thousands of impoverished towns and villages.
The world's second-most populous country has added more than 1 million cases this month alone and is expected to become the pandemic's worst-hit country within weeks, surpassing the United States, where more than 6.6 million people have been infected.
India's Health Ministry reported 90,123 new cases in the past 24 hours, raising the total to 5,020,359, about 0.35% of the nation's nearly 1.4 billion people. Its record daily high of 97,570 cases was reported on Sept. 11.
The ministry said 1,290 more people died in the past 24 hours, for a total of 82,066, which is the third-highest toll in the world. Experts warned that India’s fatality rate could increase in coming weeks with lockdown restrictions relaxed except in high-risk areas.
But authorities ruled out imposing a second countrywide lockdown as recoveries were growing at more than 78%. Its fatality rate is 1.6%, far lower than 3% in the United States and Brazil, according to tallies by Johns Hopkins University.
Hang on kids, this is far from over.

Cult members don't care what Bob has to say... They don’t even care what Trump has to say. They are in it for the chaos. That’s all. Keep the gas lit and the kettle boiling. The majority of people aren’t in the cult so that’s the good news. The exposure and proof of his lying and deceit about the virus from the Woodward tapes will carry a lot of weight with independents.

NEW DELHI (AP) — India’s coronavirus cases jumped by another 96,424 infections in the past 24 hours, showing little sign of leveling.
The Health Ministry on Friday raised the nation’s total past 5.21 million, 0.37% of its nearly 1.4 billion people. It said 1,174 more people died in the past 24 hours, for a total of 84,372 fatalities. Experts say India's death toll may be a significant undercount.
India is expected to have the highest national total of confirmed cases within weeks, surpassing the United States, where more than 6.67 million people have been infected.

Nearly 30 Massachusetts students must quarantine for 14 days after a fellow student went to school despite having tested positive for COVID-19.
The Attleboro High School student was tested for coronavirus on Wednesday, Sept. 9, and received a positive result on Friday, Attleboro Mayor Paul Heroux told HuffPost. The parents then sent the student to school on Monday.
Heroux said the student should have been kept isolated after the test date. The city’s contact tracing team identified the issue on Monday afternoon. When authorities contacted the family Tuesday morning, he said, the parents confirmed they were aware their child was infected but thought they could still go to school after quarantining for several days. He said that the student had posted about his diagnosis on Snapchat, prompting chatter on social media pages.
“A lot of parents are very angry at the parents who sent the kid to school,” the mayor said.
Authorities have not identified the student. There are currently six known active coronavirus infections in the school district of 6,000 students.

JERUSALEM (AP) — Israel went back into a full lockdown on Friday to try to contain a coronavirus outbreak that has steadily worsened for months as its government has been plagued by indecision and infighting.
The three-week lockdown, which began at 2 p.m. (1100 GMT), will require the closure of many businesses and set strict limits on movement and public gatherings. The closures coincide with the Jewish High Holidays, when people typically visit their families and gather for large prayer services.
In an address late Thursday, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned that even stricter measures may be needed to prevent hospitals from being overwhelmed. There are currently more than 46,000 active cases, with at least 577 hospitalized in serious condition.
“It could be that we will have no choice but to make the directives more stringent," Netanyahu said. “I will not impose a lockdown on the citizens of Israel for no reason, and I will not hesitate to add further restrictions if it is necessary.”

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Friday changed its guidance again after an outcry from public health officials, saying asymptomatic people who have come in contact with Covid-19 should be tested. The updated guidance aligns more closely with previous recommendations.
"If you have been in close contact, such as within 6 feet of a person with documented SARS-CoV-2 infection for at least 15 minutes and do not have symptoms, you need a test," the CDC posted on its website Friday, referring to the virus that causes Covid-19.

The White House has totally ruined the CDC by injecting their political agenda into it and those in the agency following those agenda orders. It’s a damn shame. You know the old saying, it takes years to build a good reputation and just minutes to ruin it. It’s going to take a while for the CDC to become reputable again. All of the waffling every other day has ruined their reputation. But again, that is the chaos Trump wants and his supporters feed off of. I don’t know how that helps us get past this virus though because covid doesn’t give a damn nor is it running for any office.

Why is Covid 19 not going to go away
On Monday, Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine signed a bill into law that temporarily gives schools (and health care workers) immunity against lawsuits “arising from exposure, transmission, or contraction of COVID-19, or any mutation of the virus, as long as they were not showing reckless, intentional, or willful misconduct.”
The bill passed on the heels of a Sept. 10 lawsuit filed by Ohio families claiming that mask mandates violate their religious and parental values. The lawsuit, filed in Putnam County Common Pleas Court, objects to Ohio Department of Health interim health director Lance Himes’s Aug. 13 school mask mandate.
Plaintiff Lee Strang, a law professor at the University of Toledo, tells Yahoo Life that masks interfere with educational classes such as phonics (which emphasizes mouth movement). Additionally, he says, Himes’s order is unconstitutional because it bypassed steps of the legislative process and makes arbitrary religious exemptions. “It puts school officials in the role of ecclesiastical courts,” says Strang.

Sue the state then.

Some interesting stuff I've heard from my buddy who as I have mentioned in the past is a male nurse who has been on the front lines of Covid for all six months. I spoke with him this evening and he send that Arizona has been really doing great things the past 5-6 weeks. The positivity rate is down to 3.5%, anything around 4-5% is indicative of a controlled virus. In June and July when AZ was peaking, rates were topping at 13 or so% for the state. He also said that roughly 40% of deaths in the total are deaths WITH Covid not deaths BECAUSE of Covid. Meaning if someone has a heart attack with a trace of Covid, the death is labeled as a Covid death, when the heart attack was the actual cause of death. Or if someone for example was in a car accident and perished with Covid symptoms, the cause of death would also be labeled as a Covid death. He has also spoken to other hospitals in the district and they confirm these sentiments. So therefore at least in AZ only 60% of deaths are truly due to a Covid prognosis. I do not intend to come off as insensitive, but my intention here is to bring positive vibes from someone who is in the firing line for a lack of a better phrase. I also asked him about the decline in death percentage and he said that the virus mutated into a weaker form like that of the common flu, bronchitis, etc. A good point he made was that none of us were around for the inception of those diseases and they could have been as lethal if not more so than Covid19. Hell the Spanish flu of 100 years ago could be the same modern flu we have now, no one knows for sure , but if that's the case, then for certain it has evolved into a weak virus. Again, just aspiring to show that while WORK STILL NEEDS TO BE DONE, great progress has been made.

I find it odd that if one dies of a heart attack and especially if they die in a car accident, the coroner would test for covid-19?
