I know I am not forgetting we have this virus around...
The mayor of Tuscaloosa is letting bars near the University of Alabama reopen on Tuesday, even though the school just reported more than 800 new cases.
In a press release, Mayor Walt Maddox citied a “positive trend” in results, saying an overall decline in community positivity rates “provides an opportunity for a limited reopening of bars which have sacrificed a great deal to protect our healthcare system and economy.” At the same time, the university reported 846 new cases over the last week—the largest increase in a single week since classes began.

They keep pushing the envelope.... And it keeps falling to the floor.
Maybe Trump called them losers and suckers if they don’t open. Sorry but I’m beyond upset about that.

Living in Melbourne we’re looking at some of the toughest restrictions in the world as the state government targets an elimination strategy after our second wave. We’ve been in complete lockdown (1hr exercise per day, 1 household member to the shops) for 9 weeks. Our first lockdown was for 8 weeks.
The lockdown has been extended for 3 more weeks. At the end of September there is an additional month where the only relaxation is being able to see another nominated household outside for 2hrs a day.
It’s a difficult situation to manage mentally when the rest of the world seems to be ignoring it. Much harder than the first lockdown when everyone was in the same boat.
We hope it’ll be worth it. I hope my favourite businesses survive.

I hope my favourite businesses survive. This would never be able to happen in the "have to protest about some DAMN thing" USA. Biden has said he will lockdown the country if elected and a "new" wave emerges. I just don't see it happening here. Sorry if going towards political but I was not aware of Oz being almost like a prison.

WASHINGTON — In early August, more than 460,000 motorcycle enthusiasts converged on Sturgis, S.D., for a 10-day celebration where few wore facial coverings or practiced social distancing. A month later, researchers have found that thousands have been sickened across the nation, leading them to brand the Sturgis rally a “superspreader” event.
“The Sturgis Rally was one of the largest in-person gatherings since the outbreak of COVID-19 in the United States,” said Joseph J. Sabia, one of the study’s authors, a professor of economics and the director of the Center for Health Economics & Policy Studies at San Diego State University. He described the “public health costs” of the rally as “substantial and widespread,” which could have infected as many as 266,796 people. He and his co-authors estimate that dealing with the fallout from the rally will involve more than $12 billion in health care costs.
“The spread of the virus due to the event was large,” the authors write, because it hosted people from all over the country. But the severity of the spread was closely tied to the approaches to the pandemic by Sturgis attendees’ home states. In some places, any spread related to people returning from the rally was blunted by strong mitigation measures, like a face-mask mandate or a prohibition against indoor dining.
I called this when it was announced that it was still on.

Bob Woodward’s new book Rage proves how bad Trump misled America about the virus. Proves because there are 18 audio interviews in Trump’s voice in Feb and March acknowledging he knew how bad it was and could be.
Yet he called it s hoax and downplayed the hell out of it on purpose. Instead of getting PPE ready and the so-called “depleted” stock piles ready (they really weren’t depleted, that was just another Trump lie), POTUS decided to do nothing.
Nothing. Hoping it would just go away.
This is another reason, among dozens, why people say he is unfit for office of President.
Tens of thousands of lives could have been saved if he reacted properly to the information he had at the time. The old saying, what did d he know and when did he know it, is in play here and the answers are more than he told you and long before he told you.
F that guy. Hoax this. What a piece of sht of a person. He even knew back then that it wasn’t just old people.
Smh, he is such a turd. 100% pure traitor turd.
He f’d over this entire country. His lack of timely action on the information he had at the time caused all of the shut downs and economic hardships. Every time he says China virus, you can say out loud Trump virus.
The audio tapes reveal this jackass as everything I ever said he was. Kick him out and lock him up. Senate Republicans are also complicit by not confirming his impeachment out of office before there was a virus.
Ponder.... if he bullsht ya on this, what else? Everything else.
I feel for the families who lost the people they loved the most before they should of solely because of the failed leadership of Donald Trump. It is among the biggest fails to a country’s people in history.

By Adam Edelman Joe Biden and other top Democrats on Wednesday slammed President Donald Trump over comments he made about the coronavirus to journalist Bob Woodward for an upcoming book, including the president's acknowledgment that he "wanted to always play it down," even though he knew it was "deadly."
"It was a life and death betrayal of the American people," Biden said about the revelations during a campaign event in Warren, Michigan. "It’s beyond despicable. It’s a dereliction of duty, a disgrace."
"He knew how deadly it was. He knew and purposely played it down," Biden added. "Worse, he lied."
Only a couple of months (less actually) until the election. Sorry for bringing politics into this but I am not sure our members overseas get these types of stories and the political forum isn't viewed as much. The word needs to spread ...sorry if I upset the few that read and complain but please, don't read it at all if it bothers you.

The word needs to spread ...sorry if I upset the few that read and complain but please, don't read it at all if it bothers you.It is directly related to the topic, as is my post above it. Leadership failed when it had a great opportunity to succeed. But no. That didn’t happen. Could have saved thousands of lives. The excuse of not wanting to create a panic is absurd. Would you have panicked at that info? Nah, me either. Once armed with that info, we would ask what do we need to do. Americans panic when they forget the passcode to their iPhone, not for pandemics. The notion that this gaslighting potus didn’t want to cause a panic is laughable. Panic and chaos is his presidential legacy along with traitor and liar. I remember the lady from the DNC convention who said her dad believed covid was a hoax because of Trump. She said his only precondition was believing Trump. Now he is dead from covid. She must be beside herself today. Trump’s decision to downplay and cause doubt created even more division and people died directly because of him. People who believed what he said about Democratic hoax, it would just disappear, masks are for the weak, etc. On a separate covid note. My son’s room mate is home from the hospital. He will be on oxygen and in a wheelchair for the rest of his life. He is 33 y.o. My son has been testing negative and is back to work though. Amazing how crazy this virus is.

Yeah, let's protest locking down America....
North Korean authorities have issued shoot-to-kill orders to prevent the coronavirus entering the country from China, according to the commander of US forces in the South.
The impoverished North -- whose crumbling health system would struggle to cope with a major virus outbreak -- has not confirmed a single case of the disease that has swept the world since first emerging in China, the North's key ally.
Pyongyang closed its border with China in January to try to prevent contamination, and in July state media said it had raised its state of emergency to the maximum level.

A country of 350 million has this jerk-off as its leader.
A country of 70 million has another jerk-off, Boris Johnson, as its leader.
This is what you/we came up with. As leaders.
There's a part of me that says we deserve everything we get.

Schools start up next week. Most are online for the first month and then it is a wait and see approach.
My grandson started college this week and his classes are all being held outdoors with a smattering of online available.

Apparently yesterday Canada had its first day since March where no new deaths were attributed to COVID. In a telling sign of where Canadian priorities are most people seemed more concerned that our new cases rose to over 700 than they were happy with the 0 deaths. Numbers here have been climbing again with BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba all looking to be in or coming down from a second wave. Ontario and Quebec have seen jumps from around 100 daily cases to 200. Atlantic Canada seems to still have things contained. Seeing case counts continue dropping until 0 was never going to happen and I doubt they'll let numbers go back up unchecked to anywhere close to what they were during the height of it, so I still think the country as a whole has done a decent job of this.

There's a part of me that says we deserve everything we get. We need better people to decide to run for office. When the choices are a giant douche and a turd sandwich it’s difficult to get good leadership. But with the BS that comes with politics, what good person would want to leave their private sector jobs and deal with that? Being lied about, insulted, social media hate, etc. Then ask ourselves, why don’t we run for an office to make things better? A lot of answers in there for why we have what we have. Pretty toxic. The best of us do not serve in government.
