I find it odd that if one dies of a heart attack and especially if they die in a car accident, the coroner would test for covid-19? I had an aunt just pass away From cancer and it was confirmed that she was tested for Covid. I get what you are saying but my question is why did they do the test? Is it to inflate the numbers or something else. They don't test people who die during flu season for the flu when they die of somehting, do they?

The U.S. passed yet another "grim milestone" in its COVID-19 pandemic Monday night, Reuters notes, with at least 200,000 Americans dead from the new coronavirus and an average of nearly 1,000 more dying each day. As "the country blew past estimate after estimate" of COVID-19 deaths, Politico's pandemic newsletter said Monday night, "the term 'grim milestone' in headlines became so routine that we banned it."
COVID-19 deaths are rising again in the U.S. after a four-week decline, with Texas and Florida leading the news fatalities, Reuters reports, and the University of Washington's Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation now predicts 300,000 deaths by Dec. 9 and 378,000 by the end of 2020 if current trends continue. The IHME's first projection of U.S. coronavirus deaths, issued March 16, topped out at 162,000. The U.S., with about 4 percent of the world's population, has 20 percent of its recorded COVID-19 deaths.
At a rally in Dayton, Ohio, on Monday night, President Trump assured his admirers the virus isn't really that bad, noting that it mostly kills "elderly people" and people with "other problems," adding, "It affects virtually nobody."

LONDON (AP) — British Prime Minister Boris Johnson plans to announce new restrictions on social interactions Tuesday as the government tries to slow the spread of COVID-19 before it spirals out of control.
Cabinet Office Minister Michael Gove told Sky News that pubs and restaurants across England will be ordered to close at 10 p.m. and people who can work from home will be encouraged to do so, reversing a government drive to get people back to their offices and other places of employment.
Gove said reducing “social mixing” was key to slowing the spread of the virus. He said it was impossible to say how long the restrictions would be in place.

Is it to inflate the numbers or something else. They don't test people who die during flu season for the flu when they die of somehting, do they? The main reason for the tests of those who have passed is to check for exposure to those still alive and begin contact tracing from there. Don’t get caught up in the conspiracy theories. There’s plenty of non-conspiracy resources to get those answers from. Snopes.com is always a good start. Condolences on the loss of your Aunt, Dan. Really sorry to hear that bud.

2020 has to be a year not many will want to remember. Now the only possible light to the end of this journey is going to be a new president in Nov.

My brother tested positive. He has been helping my parents trying to get their house together to sell and move closer to him as my parents are struggling with decline on living on their own at a pretty bad time during this COVID-19 thing.
MY brother was there at their house last Saturday helping them with things. In the meantime since then my dad fell once again (nothing broken!) and is in the hospital again. We urged mom to get tested as dad got tested when admitted.
All I have to say is think about something like this happening to you, your immediate family, or extended family and/or friends of yours and their families when you scoff at wearing a mask, not social distancing, or traveling to hot spots. It is about much more than you.
I don't follow this thread, but had to pop in and give a little perspective.

I feel a bit morbid when I thumbs up a post like the one above me. I do it to acknowledge I read it and feel for the poster(s).

My daughter’s symptoms so far have been limited to no taste, smell and sleeping more just like her twin brother when he had it. Of course, no idea on future complications after but will have to deal with those as they come. We really need everyone to follow the appropriate medical guidelines. This sht isn’t a joke. I was extremely disappointed to see Florida fully crack open bars and restaurants. What a recipe for disaster as older snow birds get ready to leave for their winter homes there. Hopefully there will be enough common sense to mitigate the reckless leadership we’ve had through this entire pandemic. But I doubt it. Hell we’ve already witnessed too many do not. A lot of selfish people out there feeling entitled to put other’s lives at risk. F them. Much love out to your family bud.

We have had our own "anti lockdown" protests in the UK this weekend. I prefer to call them by their proper title of "Pro illness and death" which paints them in a slightly different light.
They pretend they're trying to defend "freedom" but it's 24 carat gold BS. It's only their own freedom they're interested in, and they'd happily impinge other peoples freedom (and health) in order to retain it.
Hope your brother makes a full recovery Bob

Apparently there was recently an anti-lockdown protest in Toronto as well. Reported attendance was just over 100 people, so I doubt they'll be listened to in any serious way especially with Ontario clearly being in the early days of a second wave.

If anti- lockdown folks were truly about patriotic freedom then they would volunteer for the vaccine trials. All roads back to anything we were previously used too goes through Vaccineville.
So I challenge them to get in a vaccine trial. Especially anyone who thinks it’s some kind of farce. Let’s go. Get in a trial, get a vaccine or a placebo, you won’t know which one you get. Then be injected with the virus for real testing.
Show us how much the freedom stuff really means to you.
You have a right to get as sick as you want. You do not have the right to risk others.
