Weird, no talk of vacationers in Manitoba lol. Up until I went there almost 5 years ago Winnipeg was #1 on my list of dream holiday destinations. It was picked based upon the assumption that there wasn't a single other person anywhere on the planet that had Winnipeg as their dream holiday destination. 8 days in a row here with no new cases. We have 6... that’s 6 Active Cases. This is THE place to be!! Manitoba in the summer is excellent and we are SAFE! Good times here indeed and the Jets playing in the summer??.... WIN WIN!! Go Jets Go and NO COVID NO!!

Djokovic playing the victim 🙄
"Lately I only see criticism, very malicious,” he told the Serbian paper, Sportski Zurnal. “Obviously, there is something more than that criticism, as if there is an agenda, as if it were a witch hunt. Someone has to fall, some person, some big name, to be the main culprit for everything."
Malicious, witch hunt, agenda, really?? No, Novak, you guys did something very stupid. You played a sports tournament, sweating and breathing heavy near each other, with no distancing, loads of touching, and NO testing, AND then went to a nightclub and all danced together!
You were a bunch of idiots and you're being rightly criticised for it. There's no "agenda." Everybody loved you before this, and people will continue to love you as tennis player after this.

Nervous Nelly Fauci back at it today with the proposition that its not too late for "spiking" States such as Arizona, Florida, Texas etc to shut back down again to eliminate cases.
While this is true, doesn't he realize cases skyrocketed as soon as the nation opened back up again? What's preventing that from transpiring again. The United States cases rose because people were not vigilant and careful when reopening occurred, and it wasn't because we reopened too early. We could have waited 30 more days to reopen and the only thing which would have happened was delaying the spike 30 days.
Many of these high case states like Arizona, Texas, Florida have implemented mandatory masks....lets give those sometime Fauci. Hell even New Jersey a state where covid is under control has mandated masks to be worn in public places as precaution.
Bottom line: stay open, wear a mask, be safe by only go out as much as you can and stop the spread that way. So many of these retailers employ individuals who live paycheck to paycheck and need desperately to return to work and stay at work.
I don't see a benefit with shutting down these states for 30-60 days to get cases down and then have them spike 30 days after reopening by implementing same methodologies as part 1.
I know quite a few people who work in retail and they said if Arizona were to shut down again, that being unpaid for any period of time would cause them to not be able to pay their rent or mortgage payments and be able to stay in their residents.
Anthony Fauci, is it worth people being out on the streets and unemployed if states like Arizona shut down right now, open mid August and then by september cases rise up again. Instead of a 3 month delay, it would lead to 7 months.
PLEASE DON'T INFLUENCE GOVERNORS INCORRECTLY DR. FAUCI. Do you want to see so many Americans with no quality of life if they can't pay their bills and stay in their abodes?

I like what they did here... they shut down indoor restaurants again.. so the restaurants just moved their seating onto patios and into the parking lot.
They said you couldn't serve alcohol unless you ordered food.. so places are putting a dollar menu out.

In Ontario makeshift parking lot patios is basically what the government has told restaurants to do. Stage 2 of the reopening plan, which we're currently still in allowed restaurants to have properly distanced outdoor seating while also temporarily waiving the need to get a permit to have a "patio". They're hinting that we're getting close to Stage 3 which would finally allow restaurants to have greatly reduced indoor seating. It's a slow process but it seems to be working better than the US's straight from closed to business as usual plan.

Read a really good article today comparing trump and Trudeau. I'm no fan of Trudeau, but the difference in the handling of this pandemic couldn't be more stark.
Got to laugh at people's ridiculing of fauci, as if many other countries haven't delivered the exact same messages and exact same policies as he's suggesting; wonder how they've done 🤔
In a way, it kind of IS too late for the US now. They're gonna have to reopen and take the punishment. Still think they could be WAY more consistent and precise with how and when they do it, but you'd only be saving hundreds of lives instead of thousands, at this point. (Still worth doing obviously! And still probably won't be done, obviously!)
Then the second wave will have to be assessed as a new instance. I imagine it will the same playing it down followed by inconsistent messaging and haphazard policies.

The funny part is that the White House actually took the time to make and release a plan for reopening. That is still one of the few initiatives they’ve actually taken but within hours Trump was already telling states to reopen with total disregard to the plan.

That is still one of the few initiatives they’ve actually taken but within hours Trump was already telling states to reopen with total disregard to the plan. Exactly. That's what I mean about haphazard. Fauci's recommendation for reopening (again, no different to many other countries,) was to keep the R rate down for 2 weeks straight before reopening. I believe the Whitehouse adopted that? Then trump said to ignore the plan, places reopened and then promptly had to close again! And then trump criticises and ridicules fauci, and others follow suit 🙄

I just want to point out that Sweden, a country with no lockdown plan, is on this list.... And Sweden still doing worse than its comparative neighbours, who took a more fauci like approach Their own govt has admitted they got it wrong by this point. it's usually agreeable citizens were angry and their confidence in the handling of covid plunged downward. Talking about fauci's recommendations, a far better comparison is large countries who DID follow his recommendations (or something similar.) They have come out of lockdown earlier and, although some going back, far less having to reverse it.

The coronavirus crisis nationwide is not only deepening, it is growing more deadly. The country's three biggest states — California, Florida and Texas — are reporting their largest single-day death tolls since the pandemic began. There are now 41 states that are reporting increases in average new cases compared to two weeks ago.
In Florida, Walt Disney World reopened Thursday to guests who have season passes as the county where Disney is located has seen a 130% increase in coronavirus infections in the last 14 days.

Just absolutely brazen at this point. Money for mates AND manipulation of "public opinion." 😡 www.theguardian.com/politics/2020/jul/10/firm-with-links-to-gove-and-cummings-given-covid-19-contract-without-open-tender"The Cabinet Office has awarded an £840,000 contract to research public opinion about government policies to a company owned by two long-term associates of Michael Gove and Dominic Cummings, without putting the work out for tender. Public First, a small policy and research company in London, is run by James Frayne, whose work alongside Cummings – the prime minister’s senior adviser – dates back to a Eurosceptic campaign 20 years ago, and Rachel Wolf, a former adviser to Gove who co-wrote the Conservative party’s 2019 election manifesto."
