VctryLnSprts Just saw your retaining wall tutorial for the first time. Have you experiemented with doing all the wall steps and then at this point Splining the green up just a fringe away from the wall? Does that not work as long as you keep the sculpting above that little reflector thing? Sorry to dive in but I think it just throws off the fringe. It sort of moves the fringe in away from the edge so it doesn't look right as it narrows it also in the part where it's been moved in.

Not to mention trailducker, for playability sake you probably don't want green or fringe coming that close to retaining walls. That clear part acts like concrete no matter what texture it renders as.

Well in his video he was raising the land just above the reflector after building the wall. But he had a big gap of heavy rough, even if land is above it does it will act concrete? I was just wondering if he experimented doing the green spline after instead of before as in this video to make it tighter.

mayday_golf83 Have you tried your Boreal waste trick much in 2021? I'm starting something in Boreal theme and I want waste areas that are more exposed Boreal land then sand but not having luck using your technique. It seems more effective at making sandtraps in 2021 then in your video unless I'm doing it wrong. I never had 2019 so I don't have a reference attempting myself in the old game. Might have to just use burried trees. Was trying to preserve Object meter incase I need it down the libe, also wanted to avoid the annoying selecting madness when you have a bunch of barried trees.

It doesn’t work nearly as well in 2k21 b/c the way they “fixed” boreal took away the exploit that was used to create that effect in 2019. I got something close using buried trees in the delta theme when I redid Necedah. Boreal is probably the 2nd best theme in terms of creating contrast with the buried tree trick.

Yeah I buried a F Ton of trees on Ghost Town Canyon. I don’t want it quite as Rocky just in waste areas. Glad to know it is they fixed it and I’m not just doing it wrong! Haha I’m in a competition through the Facebook communities where the theme we are working on was giving to us on a random wheel spin so I got Boreal. Also good to know you switched the theme on Necedah, I was wondering why it was so tan. It looks like Petro buried a bunch on Carbondale, where Scottie used brown light rough and pine straw on Ryland Heath. Time for me to waste hours experimenting to get a look I like.

15eicheltower9 - also added a little Quick Tips section to my channel. These won't be formalised, full tutorials and instead more stream of consciousness stuff. Typically, these will be by request, but I might try to tie them in with the weekly Twitter tips. To everyone else, if there's anything you'd particularly like to see, do ask. If I think there's a good tutorial out there already, I'll link that, but if not, I'll do a 5 min video. So far, this covers: flat bottom bunkers, runoffs and rocky coastline. www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLsuNZuawe0H3tY8g0mWltCVl9fefkdNTx

Think Andre has covered those, so I hadn't intended on doing them. Oh yeah. I even put it in his catalog. I suppose I should watch some of these.

Probably two different things there and will do. In terms of things to get your teeth into, there's some of that on the later Yarra videos, I think. There's also this older one from last game - same principles still apply, I've just gotten better at it since:

I've just published a tutorial that breaks down course design into several skills and gives an overview of some of the various aspects of each. The goal of this video was to help newer designers improve more efficiently by helping them identify their strengths and weaknesses. It has been sitting on my hard drive for several months now since I thought I could record a better version of it but I don't have time. I figured it was more useful being published than sitting on the shelf. How to Improve Quickly as a Course Designer in PGA 2K21
