You do understand that WIPs are ineligible for contests right? This is like showing up on Friday at the US Open with your clubs and asking someone to teach you the rules of golf because you're confident you can win this thing. I understand for sure! I just thought I should ask man. I’m not trying to disrespect anyone at all don’t get me wrong. I’m just confident in myself my guy and I like competition. The thread said trash talk is welcome and I honestly don’t think I’m doing that. First things first, I'm not trying to be mean, I'm just going to be bluntly honest, because I don't think sugar coating things is going to help anything. While I'm certainly not offended, this (intentionally or unintentionally) definitely qualifies as a shot at the guys in the field. This contest is filled with dozens of contest winners, with hundreds of courses, and thousands of hours of experience. And along comes some guy in his armchair casually stating that he's better at it than they are. So, naturally, some folks are a little riled up, or at the very least, bemused by the spectacle. I am certainly not trying to discourage you here, but there's a fine line between confidence and delusion, and we're sort of shooting past that line at this point. I took a quick look at your beta, and having judged the last two rookie contests, this wouldn't have made it out of the first round in either of those contests. It likely wouldn't make it out of the group stage in any of the current WCoD groups. The lighting is dramatic, but it leans heavily on all the off course drama, which results in it feeling rather "busy" while the course itself is full of a lot of technical issues and typical rookie mistakes. I'd probably watch some tutorials on some of the basics of bunker sculpting, surfacing, playability, etc. Eric and Andre both have some great stuff out there, and there's plenty of great streamers for design content as well. I'd just hate to see you enter a contest expecting the world and get dejected if the reality of it didn't match your expectations. By all means, keep at it, we're always happy to have enthusiastic new designers around here. Just, maybe pump the brakes on the "I'm better than all of you" stuff.
Also, guys, for whatever it's worth, I'm not doing a "dumpster fire" episode. It's meant to be tongue-in-cheek, lighthearted fun, it's not a public shaming tool. I'm not going to roast someone's course without them signing on for it, that'd be a little mean spirited.

I think you’re just thinking a little to hard about it bro. What is the point in advertising trash talk if you’re going to get butt hurt about it. In no way shape of form was I trying to disrespect anyone! I know creating a course isn’t easy, I know a lot of these guys have been doing this much longer than me and are probably much better than me. I understand that completely, I pretty consistently give people positive reviews when I play a round and it’s great because I respect them for putting there time and effort into it. I’m sorry if I offended anyone with my comments but it’s a competition so why sell yourself short sitting there thinking someone is better than you. I know people like Sindrev are obviously better than me but I’m not just going to roll over and say it without putting up a fight and pushing to make a great course. I appreciate your feedback on my beta, I will definitely take those things into consideration and hopefully my overall project pleases you.

It's just hard to tell the difference between someone just having a laugh and someone genuinely believing they're the second coming. Especially when you get to deal with members of that second group on a weekly basis. Carry on.

I read this entire thing in your voice and I put myself to sleep. Well played. Edit: 10 bonus points for grammar/punctuation.

Maybe he meant top 3 in the group stage? That might be possible in some groups... take Eric’s for example It would not surprise me if I don’t make it out of my group.

15 courses left, hopefully none of them are DNFs because a full 32 person field this strong will be great!
