I see someone has OSM traced Saunton golf club in the UK - is anyone on here having a crack at it?
If not, I'll get to work myself soon.
It looks averagely mapped out so I'm hoping it's just someone building maps rather than TGC'ing it

It's just tough with links courses due to the pot bunkers and lack of fescue. Love Saunton, so would definitely enjoy giving it a spin on TGC. I mapped out Burnham and intended to do that at some point, but haven't been able to get the lidar data into the game.

I did the OSM on I think one hole a while back (the 5th - par 3 iirc), but saw that someone else had done some / all of the holes (fairly badly), and I never continued past that. Never looked at Lidar data though.....
Hopefully you'll do a better job than whoever did the horrible half arsed innacurate versions of Teignmouth and Trevose (although fairly sure they aren't Lidar anyway)

Hi Rob, It does look like the OSM was done poorly so if I'm going to do the East course I'll have to re-do, it could be possible that the image updated which makes the tracing look out of sync.
I'm currently doing St. Enodoch in Cornwall, it's a brilliant course nobody knows outside of England. It's ranked 10 in England and is a gem. If you fancy an early look search "STES" or "STES1" - they are at about 40% completion but I published to see how the two different textures and playability fared. Will be a great track once done in a month or so.
Also just published "Stoke Park Country Club (L)" about to post on the completed course forum with photos so it would be great to hear your feedback on that seeing as I'm a fairly new designer.
Thanks!

Enodoc - the best 17 hole golf course in the South West.......(the 10th is an absolute abomination of a hole - never been one for 3 yard wide fairways....)
Are you going to put in some 'championship (ie fantasy) tees' so that it is a challenge in-game? iirc it is only just over 6000yds, so will need something to toughen it up (to play as hard as it does in real life!)
Not played Stoke Park, so can't really give much feedback on accuracy on that one....

I agree with you about the 10th! Having test played it n firm and very fast greens, it actually holds its own scoring wise even though it's 6500 par 69, I'll publish a true RCR and if there's interest in "Open Championship" tees then I can get to work on a TGCT version, I'll make sure I put aiming poles for the true sim guys too

Wait for the comments about the bunker at the 6th too 'That's not realistic - no-one would ever make a 60ft high bunker in real life'

That St Enodoc bunker, my friends, is a bunker.

Are You on PC golfisfun or a console player. Could send you 2020 course file if your on pc and if you want to design it, The data looks no better than 2019 to be honest East Course and The West course there,i reckon it will take about 100-120 hours to make something playable on a decent pc and some knowledge of the course.Hard to tell just looking at the course it seems the West more interesting to play for computer golf.

Saunton?

I’m a member at Saunton. Took a look at the OSM data and a lot of work to be done there.
I’m currently working on a lidar of Sleepy Hollow CC having just published Somerset Hills CC Lidar. Once that’s done though, I’d be happy to help out if someone picks this up.
While the East course has always been considered the better of the two 18s at Saunton, the West is a little more interesting (narrower, and cut more into the dunes). Both 18s are good though and worth recreating in 2K21!

So glad someone is picking this up. Saunton is great (planning to get down to play again in the summer again) and really deserves to be on the game. Unfortunately, as a PS4 player I can’t help out but will watch with interest.
