Going to try the 2hr 18 hole challenge tomorrow evening as listed on http:/tgctours.proboards.com/thread/20385/newer-designer-competition and I would like input as to which theme. I will use the standard settings for water, hills, trees etc. And design each hole from scratch as per guidelines. 2houes will start from first modifications but routing and changing surface textures will be set up before I start my timeveryone can have 3 votes and the theme with highest number of votes is what I will use. Edit: I was going to extend until Wednesday but unable to adjust the auto lock out for the poll

Seeing as 6 courses got 1 vote each I rolled a dice to get my theme and it came up tropical. Will take screenshots to show settings and start it all in about 5-6 hours

Will be starting in about an hour but here is the plan.
I will have initial auto settings as follows:
Water - 35 Hills - 45 Trees - 75 Rocks - 50 Plants - 65 Grass - 70
Simply because there will be no time for sculpting. I am planning on 2 x par 5's, 4 x par 3's and 12 x par 4's.
Time will be split to 15 minutes for the par 5's, 20 minutes for the par 3's and 75 minutes for the par 4's. The remaining 10 minutes to find one hole to stand out and make as good as possible or to maybe do some off course sculpting as scenery.
Once into plot I will take time to adjust settings and do some routing as that is not included in the 2hrs as initially proposed and time will only start once editing the plot has begun and first hole laid down. I am going to cheat a bit by using auto tee boxes but will use splines for greens and fairways and do some smoothing with fuzzy brush so the slopes are not too extreme. May do extra tee boxes and pin positions if time allows and maybe that is what the extra 10 minutes at end could be for.
Not sure of a name but will probably just call it Davidius 2hr challenge and will announce exactly when editing is starting and when submitting. Probably won't do a play through and hope for the best. As I can't stream due to crap internet I think this is best way so you all know I didn't take more than 2hrs.

Beware pin position 1. I started adjusting them and as time was running out with only 150 seconds to do 12 holes adding a second pin, I gave up adjusting pin 1 so some are on tough slopes.
Also in the editor all the greens had green slope only yet there is lots of yellow when playing, how weird.

I would say if you are trying to finish a course in 2 hours forget about multiple pin sets and just make 1 solid pin set

That is what pin set 2 is for lol.
As I said though everything was green in editor with only alight slope and then in game Some of them got yellow and even red on one of the tiers.
Was fun to do though and I enjoyed it.
Can see some good points and even considering altering it to make a proper course. Tried some new things in it that i can see working once I have sculpting right and proper hazards

Hey Dave.. just did a round.. not bad for a time limited course and would say there is something there to work on if you want to develop it into a proper course.

Thanks Dave. I can see lots of potential in i, like connecting the lakes and making a river. One of the greens had theblake behind it and when I was playing I could envision where the river would wind around the corner providing a great backdrop.
