Damn, hope Mahomes is going to make a speedy, full recovery Football needs Mahomes. He's the main rising star along with Deshawn Watson, and...fingers crossed, Kyler Murray. Hope he just hyperextended his knee and is back in a few weeks Yeah, Mahomes, Watson, Murray, and Carson Wentz are the future of the NFL. We them all full strength so many years, all so gifted

In fact, I tend to lean away from players/celebrities who become pop culture machines for the media and pundits. I much prefer the Barry Sanders/Walter Payton types. Stay humble. Do the job. Get paid. Go home. Hello Hall of Fame.

Also I agree with you about the hype train but many players have lived up to the hype they were given in college, ala Deshaun Watson, Andrew Luck, Pat Mahomes, Zeke Elliott, Saquon Barkley, Julio Jones, just to name a few. In Tua's case, I hope he does live up to the hype. Solid player, good attitude, humble etc.

Burrow strikes me as a more NFL-type than Tua..... but I'm a little biased being the LSU fan that I am.

I think there are three QBs coming out this year that will have an immediate impact. They are Tua, Burrow and Fromm. These guys could be probowlers in their rookie season which would be impressive. For some reason I am not high on Herbert

Regarding the OP, there is no room for average anymore. There's no room for someone having a bad game, there's no room for a prodigy to make a youthful mistake from inexperience.
For me the combination of a overly saturated desperate, often misinformed, media coupled with the instant reactionary nature of social media has resulted in this phenomenon.
The premier league is a major culprit in this, articles are written by so called journalist for clicks and reactions, there's no content, no insights, just inflammatory statements and the agenda of the author.
I could write a book about this. It's a sad time we live in.

I could write a book about this. It's a sad time we live in. Misleading, even lying, sensationalism for article clicks and Twitter RTs. Especially some of the headlines these so-called "journalists" put on their articles to entice traffic to the story. It is the sensationalism and BS headlines that really gets to me the most. Second are the fans that buy into it and keep sensationalism alive by sharing it instead of holding the author to truth in reporting. But then again, people are all into lying and such these days. Dishonesty is the new honesty and too many people seem love it.

yeah golferdude1994 I get ya. Its not just sports fans though, its society as a whole. It seems that everyone somehow has developed a memory of no more than is necessary to actually put an effort into thinking about.
On the subject at hand, the NFL, this seems to equate to about the length of one week.
Have one bad game, and so called 'fans', EVEN (or especially it seems) people that that are reporting, either on the net or tv, suddenly think there is no hope, the player has lost it, and should be dumped. Have one great game, and these same people think that this player is the best in the world.
Days are gone of lets look at these player's qualities, and let them and their team, and their coach, develop for a while. People forget that the most successful coaches and players in history are the ones that have been given a chance to prove themselves over years, not weeks.
So yeah, totally agree with you, and its across the board, applying to both the good and bad players. and coaches too.
Few more thoughts-
Mahomes is indeed great. A few losses does not diminish his talent. His worst mistake was allowing himself to be on the cover of Madden. That stupid curse has the potential to crush an awesome career, LOL. I hope he pulls a Brady and beats it, cause I love watching him play.
SweetTeeBag , Deions prediction really isn't that bold. It should only come as a surprise to people that this thread is about in the first place. If people have paid attention to the Bills and McDermott, specifically, they'd realize that given time, he can take this team to much higher levels and compete with the Patriots. But he needs 3-4 years to get them there, not one or two seasons only that some want to judge success by. Again, the subject of this thread. Just wanna say that thank God the Madden curse was not deployed this year, Mahomes played his ass off this year and last year and him winning the superbowl basically said F U to the madden curse.

I cannot think of a worse sports city at any given time than Detroit right now... my goodness their teams are all terrible:
Lions: finished 3-12-1 Tigers: finished 47-114 Red Wings: currently 15-48-5 Pistons: currently 20-43
I mean, I don’t have much to brag about as a Minnesota sports fan but there’s always been at least someone worth cheering for..
