Nearing completion, a few details to iron out. Also, are betas allowed? I'd like to have it tested by a couple players that are way better at the game than i am. betas allowed, yes

Im not far off can you believe i have only done 3 holes used 50% plant meter yikes. Im just hoping there enough to do full course later. Bridge and motorway took quite abit but also huge retaining wall on the 3rd hole. But all sculpting done was going do yacht club not sure with plant meter left its possible. Like usual there is quirk to my build the retaining wall very unusual method. Ill keep it secret and see if anybody guesses what from the sculpturing done to smooth edge took bit time was hoping to get it done. Shock horror my course is more tempered not quirky fairways. Checked sightlines so bit planting it will be good too go as it be more cleaner look im aiming for.

We are getting close to the 1st now so I wanted to get some opinions about how we reach the winners. I have 3 options..
1) Contestants nominate one hole of each par that they think is deserving. You can not nominate your own holes. The nominees are then compiled into a list and put up for public polling in the clubhouse thread.
2) Bring in non participating designers to make the nominations, will still end with public polling, or
3) I withdraw my entries and lord over the entire process, handing trophies to the highest bidder. (This is not the preffered option.)
I like option 1, mostly because we dont have to seek any outside help. If we did option 2 we would be lucky to get 2 guys to make nominations amd will be a 1v1 poll at the end.
Feel free to share your ideas in this.. Im wide open to all suggestions

Think 1 too ohheycat. As for how to judge winners think we can have best of each category hole and then trophy for best overall 3, 4 & 5 design. Bonus award those did fresh design 😜, only kidding. Best environment each category gets points award such as if 5 entrys 5pts for 1st. Which then totalled up victor the one with most points.
I liked the comp this year chantres did as it was long period to design allowed the time to show off my skills. When i can do more deliberate planting colobanka took crazy amount hours. So now this been shortened for next year, your idea for future fills a hole. Yes agree we do need long term project contest. It also allows you take a breather couple days rest normal comps give myself little time im always slow methodical worker.

Ok ohheycat , having finally read the info properly, I'm in. Didn't realise it was as simple as republishing with a tweaked hole order! So, enjoy this version of Greenstone River, published as b101 lido, which I reckon should be a pretty strong contender: Hole One - par three - 107 yards. Tiny hole, beautiful setting, brutal green. My favourite kind of par three - nothing more than asking you to step up and hit a good shot. Hole 2 - par four - 301 yards:The ultimate options hole. You have up to six choices off the tee: lay short of all the bunkers, left, right, just short of the green, right of the green or drive the green. Each one carries increasing risk and reward and the pin positions dictate which is the best option. Hole three - par five - 546 yardsMy favourite hole I've ever built. The strategy is so simple - play left twice to find the green, but everything wants you to put it in the water. Bailing out right of the green is also not an easy ask, as it's above the green, sloping towards it, leaving no simple flop on to a green that also rolls away. Can you make yourself take your medicine and lay back to a full wedge, playing just a 7 iron for your second shot? Love, love, love this hole.

My entry (pithydoctorg lido) is in. Choosing three holes from Shelter Island Club was a challenge. I think the three par fives on this course are the three best I've ever done. Many of the holes on this course drew inspiration from the best courses on Long Island, including the three described below. Hole 1: 146 yards, par 3This short par three plays to a large green that sits at the foot of the giant sand dune that dominates the landscape. The green is bisected by a giant tier down its length. This hole drew on both the 6th (Short) at National Golf Links and the 10th at Friars Head for inspiration. Hole 2: 402 yards, par 4
A dogleg left around the water, there are a number of options for playing this hole. One can play short of the central bunker, near the central bunker (shorter club in but bad angle), or throw caution to the wind and aim right at the green for a flip wedge in. This hole is very loosely based on the 17th at National Golf Links. Hole 3: 568 yards, par 5
The tee shot should be played as close as possible to the deep sandy pit on the right for the best angle in, setting up an all or nothing second shot over a giant dune to a quasi-punchbowl green. The green site was inspired by both the 4th hole at Fishers Island and the 16th at National Golf Links.

Love all of those PithyDoctorG - I still have not figured out how to play that par four. Shelter is first up on my next playlist for last year's WC courses, for very good reason

Looks like we have a contest here now, sweet! Im anxious to see if any more heavy hitters lay one down at the very end. I have a feeling we will see a few more.
Thanks for coming in

I hereby admit defeat on b101 par 5. The cat strat is there, but i just cant get the banana ball to bounce up to that back pin. I need about 2 more yards of room on the right side of the green. I think its.. *ahem* ..impossible. Not to say you cant eagle it but making a 25 footer on these greens is about the same as making a basket from the top of a skyscraper In fact, I came closer to acing the par 3 than I did on the fiver

Really enjoyed playing the submissions! So cool to see which holes each designer chose. Of the courses I've played, hard to choose a definite front runner. It's almost like "pick your poison!"
