I haven't played with the audio on since my first round. I would be all for having an official side by side no wind tournament / no aids tournament for those that want to play. I'm an all aids guy myself so not for me but I appreciate the challenge every now and again.

Not missing much, audio is one of the last things I use since it is only really useful in high winds - and looking at trees work just as well.

Same, I'm usually in chat with friends when I play anyways, so audio cues are the least important.

Just played a practice round on Bushtail Valley Golf Resort with the wind off. Scored an even 71 which is not bad for myself (Handicap +2). The winds were generally light but somewhere around hole 13 it picked up a bit. The only time I really noticed the audio cue was after I already knew from the trees and flag that it was gusting anyways. My own opinion is it's definitely playable without the wind meter on whether you use audio clues or not. I'm sure playing that way added at least 3 strokes to my game. It's really going to depend on personal preference for some. Final opinion is it would be a good way to drop the scores a bit if you can get the vast majority on board but that's not really the better part of the result as I think the increased uncertainty will help to vary the top of the leader board a bit and any other rival finishes lower on the board. I enjoyed it. By the way I had to guesstimate the wind speeds when entering my practice rounds but really think that is kind of a non issue as long as the player stays consistent with their guesses.

I just played 2 rounds of no training wheels, wind was obviously fairly low so no problem. Just hard to figure out the point of not having it on, I'm with Jim here. I can easily pick up plenty of information with annoying noise and quirky cruising around, but it's far easier to just look up and grab the same information in a millisecond rather than spending a minute or more figuring it out. I has almost zero impact on scores as well.

I've played with all kinds of aid combos since early access. I am not a fan of not having the wind meter on. Since there isn't any sense of feel to get some indication of velocity, it makes no sense. Seems like a stretch to include "random unknown elements" into the game except in real golf, the wind is not a completely unknown element. Between the golfer and his caddy, they can get a good fix on the wind.
For those reasons, i say Nay to turning the wind meter off.

Personally would much prefer to keep the wind meter. I think it is then all about skill. Guesswork and estimating wont enhance the game for me. If it ain't broke don't fix it. I think making the wind somehow roughly the same for everyone is far more important. Make it windy if you want higher scores! Also pick courses that need draws and fades to get nearer the pin. Putting would become more important with no wind meter, and i cant putt very well so i am possibly biased! Forgot to mention i tried 3 rounds without windmeter. Found loads of beach and a bit of drink, and missed a ton of long putts. Magnolia was mayhem!

I don't mind if the wind meter is off..pretty easy enough. Scout cam the same. Only thing I need is the grid, no grid and I'm going from a 72 to an 85.

I appreciate all opinions and it was good to see why some of you liked or didn't like it. The admin realizes that realistic scoring will never be possible at the tops of the leaderboards - players are very good. But if it comes to a point where those scores detract from our vision for the tours we will look into any methods that make sense. Be it the removal aids or tougher courses. Have no fear though, nothing is imminent - hopefully HB can get those same winds for everyone per round in and that might be just the thing we are looking for.

The flag flapping is also not accurate on low end PCs, like mine. Actually the flag doesn't even render sometimes and all I see is a pole. This would be another detriment to the low-end PC player (already have limited grid, video lag impacting swing/putts, etc).

I think the flag not appearing is widespread - I don't consider myself a low end pc, more midrange+ and I get poles w/ no flags frequently too.

4GB R9-270x chained to an older, but still beefy I7-2600K and I get missing flags often.

Ah ok. Never seen the game on any PCs besides my own, so thought it may have been limited to my experience. Don't remember seeing this ever on xb1
