This is the conclusion of my first season on TGC Tours. Not that I actually played much on tour, just a few rounds in CC-C and a couple in TST but I have to say this is the most involved I've ever been in a video game and it feels weird even calling it a video game because of the fantastic and involved community we have here.
I've always been a much more casual gamer. I used to play online in the 360 Call of Duty Modern Warfare days but that's about it. TGC is so unique and awesome, I kick myself for not picking it up sooner because I heard about it back in 2015 or so and knew it had a course designer which I always thought would be really cool but didn't have the spare money to get an XboxOne at that time.
Regardless, I'm so glad I finally made the purchase and came across this website and forum. Whatever happens in the future with HB and a new game or not new game, I'm happy

I don't believe removing the wind speed number affected many people since it's easy to figure it out from the directional overlay anyway. May as well put the number back.
But taking away the green grid (yes, the green grid) would really make the pro level tours more akin to "pro level" golf with Master Clubs.
I don't believe removing the lie grid would make much difference.

Next would be the scout cam but we already know the problem with that. Probably the best setup IMO would be no green grid, lie grid, no shot suggestion, no putting marker, and wind arrow only.

While I agree with the idea, the fact of the matter is we have TST, USE Society, and Masochist Society that together "might" have as many participants as just one pro tours. Most people simply don't want to play that way. I initially wanted green grids off too, but have come to realize the majority of people don't (or wouldn't) enjoy it or they'd a) already be doing such by participating in various SIM societies, and b) be more vocal about wanting it changed. I think a good middle ground is turning off lie grid and aiming reticule (not scout cam). I think both have the potential to provide subtle influences, especially the aiming reticule. It would be nice to have a funner in one of the societies so people could see how it plays.

What about an event in one of the societies with lie grid, aiming reticule, and green grid off and then having a poll among pro tour players on if theyd be in favor of a change for season 6? If the majority would be in favor, why not make the change?

I play and enjoy TST, but green grids should stay for PGA. I’m for turning off some other aids though.

The problem is that we have not so many options. The scout cam (that was in my opinion the best option to have more realism with a game not too tough) is impossible to implement cause, as Doyley explained some day ago, the PC players could use anyway a sort of scout cam (I use PC but honestly don't know what it is..i suppose is in the cam options button, that sometime appears at the top left of my monitor, but I don't know exactly..but I'm also sure that he already checked it)...and we don't need for sure to give to some player other opportunities to have some unfair advantage... The greens grid is way too much, in my opinion. Is an enormous game changer and I'm almost sure the majority of PGA and Euro players would dislike the change. Then what we have? The lie grid (that I think it wild be a good change for PGA tour) but then..what else? Sadly..there is not so much we can do. Is a shame..the scout cam would be a beautiful, beautiful change.

I suggested way back on TGC1 that green grids should be removed and I still do to be honest, with scout cam on you can still have a good look at the green b4 your approach shots to try and figure undulations, but I was shot down then and would expect to be shot down now. Unlike TST, with the aiming marker ON you can get a idea of break by moving left and right and looking for number changes, I still think it would be beneficial to the top tours as the best putters seem to come out on top week in, week out, and by removing grids would add to a whole new challenge. Just my Pennines worth

Just my Pennines worth Honestly, as for the Xbox players issues my opinion was that every decision (about the use or not of the master clubs) should be made by them cause they are, after all, the most penalized (and the answer of the majority has been to stay with master clubs..showing great attitude, really admirable for me), in the same way I think that every change about PGA and Euro Tour should be proposed and eventually approved in first instance by PGA and Euro Tour players. You are the beat players, after all..ans probably even those with more experience and knowledge about the game, so you are the right guys to understand what could be an improvement on the tour or not. Me, as a cc-b player, have not experience at the best level, so i think is totally fine and fair to simply put my faith on you and follow what you decide..and I would happy to do it..cause I'm sure you should decide in every case for the best. Just try it. There's still some time before the start and I'm sure admins would have no issues to embrace a request supported by the majority of the field.

I wouldn’t argue about PGA and Euro being the best players but I take issue with you saying they’re they have more experience and knowledge about the game. I’ve been on these tours from TGC1 through 2 and now into 2019 so I have as much knowledge and experience of the game as they have. I’m only a CC-C but I have played on Euro and Web and I know there are many more on the lower tours that have exactly the same as me. I think people should be able to use master or pro on any of the tours, or don’t change anything at all just for the sake of change.

Just my Pennines worth I would go for green grids off but leave the scout cam on so you can see some of the undulations before you play to the green that way you wouldn’t be coming in blind not knowing if your hitting into a green that’s sloping away from you or into you. Lie grid should stay as it isn’t easy in game to see if your playing from a slight uphill or downhill lie. None of this really affects us outside of the PGA, Euro or Web tours anyway so it’s not going to affect the majority on these tours.

The thing is, if you started to remove aids from the Pro Tours, would guys stop playing because it`s getting to difficult and the enjoyment side of the Tours goes.
Look at the numbers on TST compared to amount of registered players that actually play TST, it`s very low because of the difficulty.
I would just leave things as they are, it`s been a great season, better for some than others true, so why try and fix something that isn't broken.
