Just had a mini heart attack, the rules say deadline 31st of August. Sheer panic followed. Re-read and it says registration by 31 August, and relax!!

Very early days guys but work has started. Suggestions, comments and general advice all very much appreciated........ Basic layout set up Hole1. Get the driver out the bag, nothing strenuous to start with but good sight lines and a birdie opportunity

Going with two tees, any thoughts on this?

Going with two tees, any thoughts on this? I've seen courses with only 1, multiple tee positions give more choices to a wider variety of skill levels, but ultimately it's up to you. Just make sure you have 4 pinsets..😉

Two tees is fine - as Jeff says, check skill levels (I'd recommend one set for Beginners and the other for Pro/Master) and definitely 4 pinsets. They don't need to be 1 = easy, 4 = hard either - variety is good.

Good luck, enjoy this journey as the feedback will be valuable. However you mentioned one important key to designing already....sight lines.....I think you are good to go

A few shots of work done so far. Very early days, bit concerned about the amount of work there is to do and how long it takes me to even choose a tree location! 2nd shot on hole 3. Going to try the bunker technique that B101 described

Holes 1 to 10 are now routed, great advice on one of Matts videos - Keep it simple, no crazy elevations. I was struggling on the 10th so dropped everything 30ft with the raise/lower tool and hey presto we have a golf hole!! Don't give up on an idea and don't accept something you're not 100% happy about. Started some planting yesterday, comments/advice/thoughts appreciated

Planting wise, watching Crazycanuck1985’s streams on twitch is always useful - it’ll give you a good idea on how to do it really well from one of the best in the game (and relatively quickly!). Main advice would be to keep it consistent hole to hole.

If you’re wanting that right side to look wild and rugged I’d resize and rotate a few of those trees add more shrubs and bushes in sized and rotated and add in a mix of green and yellow grasses bring it right to the bunker edges and lay some up under your trees too

Not posted for a while but been busy sorting a planting strategy and routing the course. 14 holes now have fairways and greens, just the all important final stretch to go. The 1st is the only 'finished' hole but i'm sure it'll be re-visted and tweeked during testing. Major changes in the last 24 hours on hole 2, i've decided that if there's even a little uncertainty or doubt about a feature/route then change it!
