Hey Rookie Design Challenge guys.... Over the last week, I have thought long and hard about the progress of my course for this competition. I have come to the conclusion that I will not be able to produce a quality course by the submission deadline of October 15 at my current pace. In my thinking, I had 3 options: 1: Push this course up on my list of priorities; sacrificing sleep, time with friends and family, and perhaps even taking time off from work to get the course the way I want before the deadline. 2: Keep plodding along like I'm doing and just publish whatever piece of garbage I end up with on October 15. 3: Call it quits as far as my participation in the competition is concerned. Keep designing as much as I can/want, and publish a quality product on its own sometime in the future. I decided to go with #3 as option 1 would take all the joy of designing out of it and turn it into a job I would probably regret and option 2 is just plain unacceptable in my mind to publish a less than 110% finished product. Good luck to the participants going forward and I can't wait to see what the rest of you release in the next month. I still have every intention of completing The Ute Club, it's just going to be sometime after October 15th. I feel you mate, it's looking like I'll be doing the same. However, why not do both 2 and 3? You could publish the course in the tournament for the sake of it, use it to get feedback and treat it almost as a beta. Who knows maybe it wont be as garbage as you think! Then you can use the feedback to improve upon and make the final version even better! |

Very disappointing to read that you will not be completing, i totally understand and know that you'll be disappointed too. I really thought you'd give B101 a run for his money.
I'm more than a bit concerned that there will be others who can't complete, i appreciate we all do this differently but there are large number of quiet WIP threads and some that don't have WIP threads. This design competition is unique as it has been set up for beginners, i'd hope that we can do it justice by having as many finish as possible and therefore keep the slot in the calendar for future Rookies to take advantage of.

No stand-bys for this event. Those who finish will be divided into two pools for the initial round. Those pools haven't been determined yet. I am waiting until the publishing window closes to arrange the two groups (they will be random draw) so I can ensure there is no more than one extra entrant in one of the pools. Don't want one pool to have 10 and the other to have, say, 7. |

For those of you who feel like you cannot finish in time: I am not removing you from the field at this time. I do appreciate the advance notice, but because there aren't any alternates, your spot is still open should you wind up completing your course.

Im rolling right along, but the time it takes me to take and post a decent pic, i could sculpt a green, so I just choose to keep plucking along. |

2 days until submissions open - is anyone planning on submitting this weekend? Pretty sure I will be. I could use a little time away from the game and pretty happy with where I’m at. I know it’s not perfect but most of the issues I have would involve rerouting multiple holes. |
