3 solid holes laid with complete sculpting and texture (no planting) Not sure if I will do a wip thread - seems most of the field is keeping their cards close to their chest

I know the timeline for publishing courses for this contest is Oct 1 - 15, but is it permissable to publish a beta version prior to that for feedback?

Can I share my progress with the TGCT community before the publishing window opens? Yes! We encourage it! We want this to be a social event, and we want quality courses. That means the designers will have free reign to reach out to anyone for advice and help learning the tools.
Are designers allowed to publish test courses (Betas)? Yes! Get some advice from the amazing community here at TGCTours. It's all about you growing as a designer.

Nope. No one has said that they won't complete their course.

Another possibly irritating question. When I publish the beta should I put a notice in the "Completed Courses" forum as well as here? I would mark it as a WIP.

sandsaver01Edit: To be honest, I reckon maybe in the Under Construction and post in Shoutbox? I originally wrote go for it, but I can see that becoming a pain if you have multiple betas.

Thanks to both of you. I don't think I will publish more than one beta - if the course requires more repair than that it isn't going to compete anyway. I think the "under construction" forum with a shoutbox shout sounds like the ticket.

Hey Rookie Design Challenge guys....
Over the last week, I have thought long and hard about the progress of my course for this competition. I have come to the conclusion that I will not be able to produce a quality course by the submission deadline of October 15 at my current pace. In my thinking, I had 3 options:
1: Push this course up on my list of priorities; sacrificing sleep, time with friends and family, and perhaps even taking time off from work to get the course the way I want before the deadline. 2: Keep plodding along like I'm doing and just publish whatever piece of garbage I end up with on October 15. 3: Call it quits as far as my participation in the competition is concerned. Keep designing as much as I can/want, and publish a quality product on its own sometime in the future.
I decided to go with #3 as option 1 would take all the joy of designing out of it and turn it into a job I would probably regret and option 2 is just plain unacceptable in my mind to publish a less than 110% finished product.
Good luck to the participants going forward and I can't wait to see what the rest of you release in the next month.
I still have every intention of completing The Ute Club, it's just going to be sometime after October 15th.

Sucks to see you go because your progress pictures have looked promising. But I know the feeling.

Ah man, really sorry to hear that lessthanbread - I had you right up there as one of the guys to beat. I love your idea and where you are going with it and thought the 7 hole preview was coming along very nicely. I know the feeling of finding a contest course a grind and I definitely wouldn't have had the self-awareness or courage to bow out, so kudos to you there. When you do get it published, I will be one of the first to play.

Thanks guys. It does suck to have to bow out because I do think I have a really good course in the making, I just simply won't be able to achieve a finished product I'm happy with by the deadline. I'm still really looking forward to seeing how this challenge shakes out and the courses you guys come up with.

Sorry to see you go lessthanbread but you seem to have weighed up everything and at the end of the day man it’s just a game so you’ve made the right call not sacrificing family friends or work. All the best and I too look forward to your course when she’s done.
