Thanks to the admins for putting up with the noisy political mega thread for the last couple of years - sympathise with the reasons for locking. But hopefully this post can be left here, so the adults in our community that still want to talk interesting non-golf stuff, can find us? Pro-boards are free so I figured why not spend 15mins throwing one up to see if we could keep the discussion going - lots of interesting times coming up! I made a handful of posts and got counted as a regular? I feel so included. I'll admit that while I rarely posted I did always read along, like I suspect a lot of people did. I've also been reading along with the new forum thus far and will probably post a handful of times.

Since I said all i could possibly say (with regurgitation of points too many times) in the original thread, I've decided to put a lid on it moving forward. I have nothing of any redeeming value to add past what I've already said, especially after the shootings in El Paso and Dayton.
My next comment will be in a voting booth in Nov 2020.

I don’t blame the admins for doing it though.
Hard to keep it going when ANOTHER shooting pops up mere hours a after I posted it.

I suspect (see also - would bet my life) it’s a couple of the non vocal cowards that started reporting comments rather than having the berries to engage. You know the ones, would pop in and tell us we shouldn’t be talking about politics on a golf site, despite not having the intelligence to vocalise their objections. Doyley - is that the new method we should employ whenever we don’t like a discussion, being as you’ve rewarded bad behaviour here and punished people who played by the rules for 550 pages? Oppression/Suppression of political opinions isn’t a good thing, no matter how personally convenient it is. |

No, it was locked because people too cowardly to engage ‘played the game’ and realised reporting it would get it shut down.
How I imagine it played out...
Admin - Geez getting sick of the reports on the politics page, if it continues I might have to shut it down
Moron - Hmm, maybe if I keep reporting it all of those bad people im not smart enough to rebut will be quiet and ‘git off mah lawn’...

Or, people were being outright despicable to each other with some pretty horrible things being said, and it doesn’t meet the mission or purpose of this community. But sure, it’s because people couldn’t agree politically.

Before this gets locked as well thanks for the invite Paulus I will probably join at some point. I certainly enjoyed some of the debates and I did learn a lot about other people's views. I did try to give a point of view of from a small business owner in America which I think I had some success sharing my experience. I did say some things I wish I could take back when my emotions got the best of me but I usually apologized.
As far as the admins they did what they had to. This is a video game site . They let that thread go way further then any other video game site I know of.

I’ve never once said the post was sh%$ down because people couldn’t agree politically, if that’s your understanding from my words we have a comprehension issue.
Reeb - wasn’t engaged enough in the last weeks of it to see much of the implosion so if comments were that disgraceful fair enough. I was basing my assumption on the way it played for the first 520 odd pages. I do not label people, I label actions. If people own the actions and take the label, that’s on them.

One more thing.
Great example of how people can be friends with different views. Ray and I went at it a couple times but off the field I consider him a friend.
