No, it was locked because people too cowardly to engage ‘played the game’ and realised reporting it would get it shut down. No. It wasn't. It was shut down after multiple reports. Someone with a new forum tag (I do not know if it was an old member with a new name or a new member) posted nine homophobic and transphobic posts in "2020 Election" thread, quoting passages from the Christian Bible. I reported the posts. I do not know whether I was the only person who reported the posts. It was the first time I ever reported a post on this forum. So to suggest that someone reported posts for the purpose of shutting down political discourse on this forum is unequivocally false and not based in any kind of fact. Someone posted hate speech on this forum. The admins had to be alerted so that it could be removed. I reported the hate speech. I am disappointed that the politics threads had to be shut down, but politics sometimes brings out the worst in people. I fully support the admins' decision on this. |

Even tho I wouldn’t have let the person get their way - they pretty much stated their intention was to get the thread locked - I can totally see why the admins felt like it was their only option.

Same.
I just hate that their bad behaviour was rewarded by getting exactly what they (and others) wanted.
Can’t join the new site until this test is over. Changing things when you’re going well is bad luck for the team. I once had to listen to an afternoons play from the kitchen because every time I walked in we lost a wicket and my mates would have bashed me lol.

Admin literally said politics were off limit. We should be grateful that they’ve kept this thread up for people to see. Let’s keep it that way.
Also, the threads weren’t locked because of different views. They had three separate events of trolling (outright racism, attacking my child with autism, homophobic stuff) and got tired of seeing it. I don’t blame them. Talk politics all you want on the new board. Just leave it alone on TGCT.

Doyley - feel free to lock this thread to save it getting dragged into debate. Could we ask that the tgct-politicos forum link be added to your locked "no politics" sticky? So like minded saddo's can find where the TGCT politics community is after this thread drops away? Thanks!
