Well, first of all this course is a bear! After several practice rounds in high winds of 15-20 mph, I shot 4 or 5 over each time. But during these adventures, I have learned to 'work the ball' in high winds better. To my surprise on Saturday morning, I teed off to winds of 5-12 mph. It seemed like an early birthday present. I shot a first round 67 and followed it with a 64 for a -13 at the mid point of the tourney. Very good scores for ME. I suspect that the wind waiters will be in full force this week! Had I teed off in 15-20 mile winds, I would have played only one round myself. I do think the greens are a bit harsh and maybe not designed as well as they could be. As someone has already brought up, #10 needs to be redone as it is unfair with the current pin placement.
I hope this is low enough to make the cut!
Good luck to all and may you have the lower winds I enjoyed for two rounds.

Shot a couple 67's in low winds on a Sat morning. Not a fan of this course, borders on fantasy imo.

I don't think opening rounds of 68 & 70, is going to get me to the dance ... I should have been a "wind waiter" ... LOL

Those winds, those winds. For me I was shooting fantastic except 14. Long putt for birdie, big slope, downhill and I lagged it perfectly. Then proceeded to miss my easy par and it went so far past it took two more putts to get into the cup. Ended up with a 6. In any event I'm happy with my 74.

Round number 2: -3 after 6..I should have quit then. My putting wasn't at good as I had in round 1. Another 74. All in all, an interesting course.

So I decided to play round 3 even though I'm not making any cut and after making this beauty on 8 was at 4 under..number 9 my approach went down a mountain and didn't feel like an 11 so I ended it there..

Shot 65 in the 1st round and felt like I stole something. Was -3 after 9 in my 2nd round but finished +1 on the back for a 70. Wouldn't be surprised to see the cut around -10.

Yeah I saved my good rounds for 1 and 3. 66 69. Challenging course. Hopefully -9 will get me through.

Ok, I've played quite a few practice rounds on this course (always high winds of like 11-15) managing -6 as my best.
Played another practice round yesterday evening in winds of 20!!! and only just managed a -2. So I've gone into this tournament knowing it isn't going to be easy. Winds aside the greens are ridiculously hard on a lot of the holes and some of the pin positions are just a little too unfair in my opinion.
That said, I tee'd off a moment ago in 9-15 winds and shot a -9 (63) which I am over the moon with because I know it wasn't one of those lucky "transcendent" rounds some of us get from time to time (I've put in my practice, made mental notes of the pit-falls and other things to watch out for on this course, and it's paid off).
Good luck everyone (I already noticed a -12 first round for the current leader.....MY GOODNESS!)

Played 2 rounds & tbh I'm not bothered about making the cut, that way I'm not going to waste another hour of my life on this $#@/$# course.
Ok that's a bit harsh. The course itself is ok, but if my rl club had greens like this, then I'd be asking for a refund of my subs & looking for a new club.

I took the momentum from my second place from Coyote Canyon into the training rounds. But just the training rounds Played round 1 in good wind conditions (5-12 mph), played wonderfully from tee to green but could not hole any putts. After three really bad puts I totally lost the feeling for green speeds and ended up with a disappointing -4. My practice round today with winds from 12-17 mph was a -9. So I hope to gain some ground. But a 68 is too bad a start for an Top 10 finish, which was certainly my goal.

The pin placements suck on this course. Not that I missed a ton...but they suck in general....borderline unfair and ruined the course for me

Good luck beating Jim Brown with that opening round of 6.
Hell of a performance.
