Looked up the current weather (clear, high SW wind) and played it in very firm/very fast conditions - TST style. Nice, little course. One good thing about this Lidar is that we are getting proper greens now. Lovely green undulations on this course. Played along with the real scorecard and noticed that the 8th and 18th holes should actually be par 4s. Should be a par-70 course. Either way, I shot a 63. So a -9 or -7 whichever way you look at it.

That is weird, the flyover video I used to plant also shows 8 and 18 as par 4's. But the hole-by-hole review where I got my scorecard from is from a playthrough Jon Cavalier did for GeekedOnGolf in 2017, so it's fairly recent, and he's a respected name. He even says that all the tee sets play to par 72 in the article. geekedongolf.com/2017/02/25/fishers-island-course-tour-by-jon-cavalier/I would've preferred that it play as a par 70 though, honestly.

I've started to discover that almost nothing about golf courses is accurate as published. Par? Probably right. Tee to Green yardages? Probably not. Hole descriptions? Definitely wrong. I'm honestly surprised they get the golf course part correct. I would expect these to be swimming pools by some of the accuracy in descriptions.

The streak of me holing out on your courses remains, this time a flop in on three, and an albie on 15. Thankfully thats one of the legitimate par 5s.
And on that note I am going for you in the us open contest because I might win if I hole out enough!

Been digging further into this par 70 vs par 72 thing. Found a Graylyn Loomis hole-by-hole with your same FI logo'ed scorecard but it also shows 8 and 18 as par 5's. Also found this hole-by-hole on Golftripper that said on the hole#8 description that there is also a black tee set that is essentially the same as the blue tees except the only difference is 8 and 18 play as par 4s to a par 70. So I guess I found my excuse for a (Tour) setup for joegolferg, anything else I should change you think?

Absolutely top-notch stuff here and shows the power of LiDAR technology partnered with quality OSM data and finished off with details and polish from one of the best designers. THIS is monumental here! I could play Purgatory and Fisher's on a loop and by very happy!

Not sure what else you could change but I'd advise only using one tee set (blacks par 70) for the 'tour' setup that way it can be handicapped properly. Maybe change it to Max Firm and Max Speed for kicks as it is a 'tour' setup, but that doesn't matter too much as you can change course conditions anyway.
Either way, par 70 or par 72 it's still essentially the same fantastic course.

Like I mentioned, just those par fours need changing for a tour version and I'd definitely go for the green grass, white sand textures like you see in many photo's. Unless you're thinking of lengthening some holes?

Good LiDar is very good... though average LiDar is very bad.

gamesdecent sorry if I ask for this, but before to create the Lidar version of this course, have you ever created a rcr version of Fishers Island for TGC2019? (about the issue on the scorecard, I don't know if this can be considered valid even for Fishers Island, but checking real courses, I found often scorecards that indicates different par on some hole, or, in a pair of cases, I found also scorecards in which some hole is indicated both as par 4 or par 5. Probably depending if the course is played by members of for some tournament..i don't know. Anyway..your Fishers Island is a beauty )

Yeah, I found an article that said there are “black tees” for tournaments that are just the normal blue tees with two of the par 5’s changed to par 4’s. But one of the scorecards has some of the names of the holes wrong too. On NGLA, I’ve noticed things can change based on how old the scorecard is, some show it as a par 73, more recent ones it’s a par 72, and I’m sure it also plays lower for certain events too because a couple of the par 5’s are less than 500 yards. Thanks for playing, glad you enjoyed it.

Oh, my pleasure as always, you know it I asked cause on my list your course was reported two times, one lidar and one not, but obviously I can find only the lidar version. For sure I made a mistake somewhere I'll delete the report in excess. Thank you for the answer. (yes, NGLA is a great example. I noticed the same thing while I checked the course..but what a beauty is that course? Oh..and the same author published also a version of the Tamarack Country Club (the one in CT, made my Charles Banks..)simply fantastic. Slowly, thanks to all the hard work made by you guys, we start to have A LOT of fantastic real courses. And a good number of those courses are really jewels. The only shame is that some of them is severely underplayed, if not almost totally unnoticed. Is also for this, that I'm so thankful for the work of everyone of you.)

C'mon folks, it's obvious here. The par 70 scorecard only has ONE tee listed, so it's safe to assume that is how they have the course play specifically for tournaments. For general member play it would remain a par 72.
