The Fishers Island Club is a country club located near the eastern end of Fishers Island in New York. The club includes an eighteen-hole golf course designed by Seth Raynor that was ranked ninth in the 2009 Golf Digest list of America's 100 Greatest Golf Courses. The golf course has been called the "Cypress Point of the East" and is also referred to by its members as "The Big Club" to distinguish it from the Hay Harbor Club, another country club on the western part of the island with a nine-hole golf course. The course opened in July 1926, a few months after the death of its architect, Seth Raynor. Most of the holes have water views of Block Island Sound or Fishers Island Sound. Like his mentor Charles B. Macdonald, Raynor patterned many of the holes after classic designs at other courses including the Alps, Biarritz, Cape, Double Plateau, Eden, Punchbowl, Redan and Short. The country club also has four tennis courts and a beach club.

I have a feeling this will not disappoint tonight. Looks incredible.
Edit: I was right. Played it while watching this flyover video on youtube. Sick.

Very good work here Petty
Enjoyed every bit of this course... Lost my swing on the back side after a -9 front 9 with a par on the first par three
Wasnt very familiar with this course, but the sculpting is AWESOME
Thoroughly enjoyed man, great work

Yeah gonna play pretty easy I think at only 6600 yards but hopefully the simulator guys put it to good use. Also plays great without driver in the bag.

Just played my first round and it was certainly one of the most enjoyable courses I've ever played in the game. (obvious Raynor bias) Excellent job on the planting, the mood of the course completely captured how it seems in the real life flyover on YouTube. So many great holes especially the run from 2 through 5. The Eden and Knoll are also gorgeous, what a back to back pair of templates they are. You have no idea how much I appreciate you working on this historic gem. Looking forward to writing up a course profile on this for the blog spot. Thanks again. 👍

Don't think you need to keep Driver away to be honest, play in High or Very High winds like the course is designed to be played in,you find in places the course has serious bite if you slightly off with your approaches,Shame many hate playing in 20mph winds but to me part of golf. One thing I hope people have noticed with this Lidar programme how a well designed real course plays different every time you play depending on the wind,Something to me been missing a long time in this game great news. Would be nice with these LIDAR courses if the designer could give you the Common Wind it normally plays in,i know wind direction and compass do not always add up,would be nice to set it with normal wind direction (just a little thing to me).

Definitely another keeper from the LiDAR stable. Lovely course and immensely enjoyable. Played on default conditions and it was a breeze. Next time out will be ramping up the winds to see how I fare!! Great work.

According to TheFriedEgg, the prevailing wind is usually at your back on the first hole, so that would be N to NW in game. Glad you find it enough of a challenge with a high wind, I tried to put a lot of the pins on some of kind of slope to help counteract the length, and frankly, at 6600 yards, I'm not really bothered if one or two pins over four rounds have a little yellow from certain angles.

How can you find wind direction without just playing your unpublished courses and setting wind directions and guessing?

How can you find wind direction without just playing your unpublished courses and setting wind directions and guessing? You can't. I think I saw Chad say if your lighting orientation is 0-degrees, that's true north, but if not, you just have to play the course, set the direction, and then orient yourself afterward. I have no idea why setting a prevailing or default wind in the designer isn't a thing.

Great job. Would have been much better imo if you made 8 and 18 par 4's but still a 5 star for sure.

Looked up the current weather (clear, high SW wind) and played it in very firm/very fast conditions - TST style.
Nice, little course. One good thing about this Lidar is that we are getting proper greens now. Lovely green undulations on this course.
Played along with the real scorecard and noticed that the 8th and 18th holes should actually be par 4s. Should be a par-70 course. Either way, I shot a 63. So a -9 or -7 whichever way you look at it.
