Seem to be in the minority that have no idea what I'm doing with this. My mask doesn't seem to work, my OSM data isn't importing, I just end up with a 45mb course file with some hills and a full plant meter. Probably doesn't help that I have very little knowledge for this stuff and nowhere near the amount of patience.
Don't think this process is up my alley anyway. Would rather be moving dirt in the designer and coming up with my own ideas than agonizingly tracing and comparing pictures. Might try again in a few days, but got nowhere after a few hours of it today of just trying to follow the basic tutorial. Clearly missing something. Frustrating for sure.
Can't wait to see what you guys are able to do with this.

Hey bud, I was completely overwhelmed too at first but it's actually fairly easy once you get it figured out. Have you watched Nobleman's video yet? It's a bit long but I learned pretty much everything I know about it so far from that video. I'd be glad to help you out with this if you want to get together on Twitch or something this weekend. Someone like you could do great things with this tool so please don't give up yet.

Crazycanuck1985 be sure to download a newer release: chadrockey.github.io/TGC-Designer-Tools/I've been slowly transitioning from an Apple-like "features enabled" to a more ala carte "explore and find what you need/ask questions" approach. Almost all of the extras are opt-in. You probably have a big course and Background Terrain is probably auto-populating. I guess it's good people can't tell where I switch from background to foreground. . But it does take a large portion of the meter for chonky courses. This doesn't happen by default anymore. If someone has to ask "how do I remove the cliffs", then I know they aren't comfortable with the sculpt tools and point them toward the auto-background feature. And unfortunately, every once in a while the Lidar needs a really dedicated investigation - even the government/airplane lidar companies get stuff wrong sometimes... . I'll be glad to take a look.

I've never touched the designer in 2019 and I have laid out 3 courses in 3 days. Now, I have no clue how to even put a tee marker down or smooth out a green but that's for another day if I can get the course all mapped out and in game, a master like you will be creating magnificent courses in no time at all. Stick with it!

This is why i choose a relatively low detailed local municipal course to try things out, get used to the tools, read others comments and try to put it altogether.
I was very fortunate that the course was already defined by others in OSM, even the cart paths were already done.
I am interested in how I'll get Montreux done. When I originally did it in TGC 1, it measured bigger than the plot the game provided. I'm going to do a quick look at it this afternoon to see if that remains the case under this method.

nevadaballinThere are a variety of ways to expand the plot now. The easiest is to just add lines-> holes in OSM. This will add tee boxes and pins, as well make sure the course isn’t cut off.
