I think I finally got a handle on this Lidar thing and I figured I should start with the closest course to my house, Shadow Creek... Thanks Chad, this is going to be amazing....  |

Okay guys, I finally got the entire course traced out and imported into my file. The course had already been done in OSM but I ended up replacing 90% of the shapes as I find it easier to smooth shapes out in that program than once the textures are ported into TGC. Anyway, next comes the water shaping, tee flattening and doing touch up work around greens and bunkers. I've got a third of the course done so far in that regards. Here is a video of a few flyovers of completed (minus planting) holes....
I expect it will be a few more weeks to do the planting and smooth out the background, but everything looks good thus far I believe.

I just uploaded a beta version of what I have done with the course so far. The course is called 'sc_beta_noplant'. I believe that the elevation touchups are done and from here on its planting the rocks then the grasses and finally the trees. The beta has all four tee sets and two pins. Let me know if you see anything that needs fixing or pins spots that are bad. Cheers.

So I have the front nine planted now. I went really nuts with the trees and underbrush on this course. I believe that Fazio's intent here was to keep every hole visually separate from all of the others so I am doing my best to replicate this in my version of the golf course. I released a beta of the front nine this morning, it's called ' sc_beta_front9'. It has all four tee and pin sets and is fully planted. Unfortunately most of the beautiful rock work and waterfalls are on the back nine. I need to take a short break from this project but I still expect the full release to be in another three weeks or so.  Also wanted to mention that the course so far is just under 6Mb with the planting meter at 60%. All of the buildings are placed and all that is left to plant are the trees on the back nine. I hope it plays okay with all of the vegetation...seems to run okay on my laptop. |
