however, the whole exterior of the course needs to be traced so it doesn't get cut off. I would think a big box of fairway around the course should do it and then you can just delete it in the designer. You don't need to do that, just define the "holes" in OpenStreetMap Line -> Hole. That will protect the exterior of the course.

I think what Chris is describing is what helped me with Purgatory as far as file size
Purgatory is a pretty flatish overall plot with mounding here and there....I also pulled in four LAS files and once I did all that tracing etc the file size was right at 9mb and the plant meter was right at half way
I have pulled in a couple other courses to test, one last night that was 17mb and the meter was at 3/4 full but had a huge mountain on the east side of the plot I pulled in the lidar data again, reshuffled the mask a little and got it down to about 11mb but still maybe too big (BUT I LOVED the look of the course) problem is not a lot of photos and such on the site.. Its about 75 miles from me but I doubt theyd let a toadstool like me on the course to take pics ha ha ha
I pulled in Arrowhead in Colorado recently... The course has some amazing rock formations through out the course, the lidar data pulled those in WONDERFULLY but the plot was like 27 mb and the plant meter was pegged so it would be a project I couldnt undertake
Like Chris said finding a course with a plot that doesnt destroy the file size and meter is tough but doable, I just got very lucky on Purgatory that those factors werent a huge detriment and I published right at 8mb with a plant meter completely full...

I am on X1 so I could never make a LiDAR course but I am so intrigued by how this works. Do any of you guys that make them stream while you do? I would love to watch this process.

I have said I want to stream more.
I will probably stream developing software for the course, designing courses, and eventually playing them on TGC simulator.
Twitch.tv/chadgolf
I will try to post in the shout box as well.

Something happened to the list. The course names are not matching up to the claimed designer and so on. Looks like someone may of sorted the course names by alphabetical order, but didn't move the rest of the columns with.

Holy hell, that list has blown up, I haven't checked it in a while. So we can claim courses without LiDAR available, eh? Interesting tactic...

I reverted back to before that change was made, not sure if some entries were lost or not.

For a few important courses that will be asked about/searched over and over AND have lidar where the flights are planned or have already flown, I marked them to let people know it's likely worth it to do other courses until that new lidar data is available.

This is a little off topic, but I really want to encourage you guys to NOT put lidar in the course name, but instead put your username so it survives the transfer across consoles/servers/to simulator. I know that if I search for any of your names, I'm going to have a good course. I'm almost NEVER interested in searching for Autogenned courses and I know lidar courses are going to have a minimum level of quality, but when I want a fantastic course, I want to search for you. I know that clv makes my favorite courses, "Protee" might be simulator length, mthunt courses are extremely simulator playable, Terry's courses are Commodes, Eric's courses are usually fun, etc. There's going to be tons of minimal effort courses just because of how much skill good course design requires. I don't think having multiple versions of a course will be bad, they'll all bring something unique. And if someone puts in the minimal effort and it's an important course, I know one of you is going to get ticked off, take their end point (lidar + OSM), and then blow their course out of the water. Chad- What about guys like me that never visit these TGCtours forums? Life does exist outside of TGCtours so why keep the many people such as myself searching for Lidar courses with a limited time schedule having to jump through extra hoops?
I can tell you firsthand that I personally know a lot of TGC players that don't come here that live off of searching "LiDAR"... Is your suggestion to not include "LiDAR" with the thought in mind that the majority of people looking for these courses are with TGC tours?

It's not fair to hold me to what I said a month ago. There's another sticky post where we did end up deciding that "LIDAR" was the tag, if you're going to use one, then you use that one. But with the course name limitations, only about 66% of lidar courses are featuring the tag. I'm not sure how I feel about lidar being the sole focus of someone's gameplay, but it's interesting. The secondary effect is that cross-platform play strips the creators name and sets it as "TGC Player" or something. If you have your username in the course name then you can keep the credit. In an ideal world HB would enable the "Real Course" tag for us or add a "Lidar tag", but that'll never happen. If it does, I marked the courses with a lidar tag for them so all published lidar courses can be searched if HB wants. I thought someone was keeping a list of lidar courses? If that isn't easy enough to find, we should make sure that it is.

Also, I don't see the course creators name unless it's done and published on the ps4 right? Either way, I didn't see the date of your original post, and the reason I'm even coming over to the tgctours forum is to see the Lidar list.. I believe you were the one that told me about this thread over at the TGC HB forums.
