Serious question.
Bored, I decide to outfit a female avatar for the game and play a round. What I experienced I did not expect: the swing and touch was very different from what I am used to with the male golfer.
Is this just a figment of my imagination? Or is this really a thing?

No idea about gameplay as I've never tried playing as a female (I don't swing that way, ahem but when I watched ohheycat on Twitch the first time, I noticed the swing animation for a female avatar's body is much smoother, more fluid and generally just more realistic. What kind of differences are you seeing in terms of swing/touch?

To me the swing is not smoother, more gangly tbh. The big thing I noticed was the putting touch was not there, I tried tapping in short putts and they would rocket thru the hole and across the green. I'm no Chad but I think I'm a decent putter, but that gal had no touch what so ever!

Half-tempted to try it and maybe re-brand myself as Loretta Malone, I'd keep the same clothing / hair styles as my current avatar though, this is how I expect she'd look:

This can't be true ... this is a video game ... it shouldn't matter what gender you pick. It should play the same regardless.
Is there really a difference ?

In today's sue happy world?
There's no difference. I bet my tour card on it.

Most notably in putting, she has no touch. Well, I will have to try with a male avatar and see if he has a better "grip" on the putting stroke ...

I just saw this post, and I can attest to the fact that YES there is a difference in the swing in the two avatars.
I noticed it right after the game was out, but didn't post anything, because I wasn't entirely sure if it was my imagination or not. Until now, when I see someone notices it!!
I made a female avatar right after the game came out just to see if I could make a hot chick. But I immediately saw the difference, ESPECIALLY on the putting.
I had to give up on playing the female version because it was messing me up, trying to get used to two different ways of swinging the club. I almost played the female avatar instead because I like the after swing animations better. can't stand the stupid 'almost throw the club' thing that randomly comes out with the male avatar after a shot. Its not that I never feel that way, its just that I rarely feel that way when the avatar does it. LOL.
But yeah, it IS different.

I think they motion captured two real golfers. So because their swings were different, the swings in the game are different.

They did Mo cap a male and female golfer for each swing, the guy was a bit on the short side so that caused problems with the left arm bending at the top of the swing when you created a tall golfer but they have tweaked the animations since.

I may have to try a female. I have never felt comfortable with the seemingly softer putt in 2019 compared to TGC2.
