Is there a trick to get this to work right? VctryLnSprts used this last week on the rehash of hole 7 and blasted it all off the screen I think he is qualified to answer. Eric?

It's good for deleting or moving a lot of objects or brushes at the same time. You need to use the d-pad to increase or decrease the size of it. One thing I used it for was the wolf's head in my Desert Wolf course. Where I placed it at first wasn't visible during a round, so I used the area select feature and moved it to the back of the 18th green. I still needed to do a bit of sculpting so it could be seen, but it was a lot better than scrapping and rebuilding.

You need to use the d-pad to increase or decrease the size of it.
Specifically L+R on the d-pad.
I tried using it to replicate a fish farm structure (yep, that's right) I was creating in my WIP, had one that I was happy with - 4 cages with walkways in between - so area selected and copied to an adjacent spot, but there's no measure tool or real indication of exact positioning and I couldn't get them to line up along side each other to my satisfaction.
Area select is great for clearing areas, not so good for precise copy/pasting or moving.

Remember - the area select tool will not work on generated objects/trees/grass. Only what you put down yourself. To clear generated objects, you need to go to Sculpt->delete generated objects. Also remember, when you mass delete, you mass delete anything in that area you put down, including brushes and objects. I imagine the same goes for copy/move.

Anyone know how to do this on a PC? I've searched everywhere and can't find any instructions on how to area select on PC. Thanks!

OK...figured it out. On PC follow these steps to get to area select:
1 - Select any single object in the area you want to select 2 - Type the item number on the Edit list for that item 3 - Then click on "Multi-Select" 4 - Next click on "Area Select" 6 - Use the ALT key to change the size of the red brush 7 - Then you can copy the items inside the red area 8 - Paste wherever you want.
I noticed that it's glitchy. It will sometimes stop responding to the number keys. Then have to go to Playtest and back to regain number selection.
