Guys,
I finally got a chance to watch the show and I want to thank you all for the review. I was so bummed to have some family stuff come up that caused me to miss the show. Looks like I will have to leave some feedback here to clarify my intent.
One thing that the designer really lacks for me is the ability to set a prevailing wind. You guys drew a wind that was completely opposite of the "prevailing wind" that the course was designed with in mind. It really came into play on the Par 5's. I believe it was Matt that said they lack strategy, but the things that he mentioned would have been much different with the prevailing wind. The 4th is a true 3 shot par 5, and for you guys it played down wind leaving you all with pitch shots into the green. Matt mentioned to lengthen the hole, but I set it at the length it is due to it normally playing into the wind. The other 2 that weren't reachable played into the wind, and would normally be downwind thus leaving the player with decisions after a good drive.
I had to laugh at the sailboats comments. I can totally see it now, and any tour version would have about (12) fewer boats. It is a bay, so for now players will have to deal with all the sailboats people bought from the same boat shop. On the coastline problems, I have no solution as I ran out of plant meter, and even removing boats didn't help enough. That is something I will need to manage better in the future as well.
All the comments were super constructive and should allow for some degree of implementation on my end that will improve all of my future designs. I want to thank Matt for chipping in, and Kent and Greg for putting out this show to allow designers exposure and the valuable feedback that we all need.
Sorry that I missed it live, but the show was a great help. Keep up the great work!

Glad you watched the show in the right spirit, as I definitely made a lot of comments (some rather sarcastic about the boats, etc, he he). It's pretty obvious that you are getting WAY better with the designer and this one is a big step up from Spion Knopp, imo. Still some visual things to work out, but course looks really sharp. When it comes to the par 5's, I definitely understand your reasoning on the distances and wind. You would know better than anyone how the par 5's play, certainly more than a guy playing it for the first time. I swore that I had 300+ yards in on #4 and #8 and we had pretty light winds to the side, but I could be remembering wrong. I definitely liked 18 and the decision it forced me to make...it's definitely the par 5 I remember from the course. Nothing wrong with 3 shot par 5's, just harder to make them memorable. And yes, the boats. It was obvious that by the end of this course, you had some pretty great planting methods figured out for rocks and bushes, so would have been nice to have that along the coast to draw attention rather than the boats...but live and learn. I have a feeling your next course will be a showstopper.

You played it very well and I'm glad you're enjoying the round so far. You raise some interesting points on some of the sight lines from tees, environment and bunker sculpting and lighting as well. Will gladly take this advice into my next course which I hope you will love even more.

Sorry I couldn't be on yesterday. I did design the course with cc in mind. Also the rocks ate up the plant meter and I thought about just pulling all of them out but I liked the look so left them. With the bunkers I intentionally did not make the super deep because I want to give low skill guys an opportunity to score well, plus I liked the look of a realistic course set up. I have played course like this were the bunkering isn't crazy at all.
As for the tree on 16, it's for looks. It doesn't come into play. Originally there was a back drop of trees behind the green but it made the hole look bland I took them out just to improve the lighting.
Thanks for the play.

Yes, it is a bit harder critiquing a course without the designer live with us so we can get this kind of dialogue live, "get in the designer's head" as it were as we see things, but still really enjoyed the course! Keep up the great work.
