Thanks again for being such gracious hosts. I appreciate the honest feedback. I didn't realize just how much of a delay my slow internet had. lol. I was almost a full hole behind there at one point! Also, I misspoke. I realize I said I have been using the designer for like 5 months. It's more like 6 or 7. lol. I totally enjoy it and am thrilled that designers I respect were able to view my course and play it.

Thank you for reviewing Angus Bay International. I watched the full review last night and thank you for your honest opinions. Watching it, I really wanted to have been there live so I could add my thoughts and reasons behind some of the designing. Constructive feedback is always good and I can certainly see the points you made regarding sculpting has to stand out on a links course and that the greens, fairways and rough were all similar colours. I had a wry smile on my face when you remarked about a few holes not being realistic, especially as the four holes that you were referring to were inspired by real life holes that I have played. So I will go through the holes as I couldn't then... 4th Angus Bay 2nd Hesketh The 4th at Angus Bay is inspired by the 2nd at Hesketh, a course in Southport that has hosted Open Championship qualifying and The Amateur Championship. It's a par 3 played from one dune to another, though I did raise the dunes a lot more for Angus Bay. 5th Angus Bay 18th Hesketh Both are par 5s though I have reworked the design somehow. Hesketh's hole is quite short for a par 5 at just over 500 yards, though plays slightly uphill to the narrow green entrance between two dunes. Angus Bay's hole is about 100 yards longer but plays downhill to a small green with a narrow entrance. Again I made the dunes much bigger. 9th Angus Bay 17th Hillside Hillside is a stunning links in Southport, and host to this years British Masters in May. Greg Norman once said it has the best back 9 in England. Their 17th is a par 5, played between what resembles a tunnel of dunes. I made Angus' 9th in a similar vein, but bigger dunes again and as I already has 5 par 5s on the course/lined up, made it a par 3 otherwise it would have been a par 75 course. 16th Angus Bay 15th Royal St Davids Royal St Davids is one of Wales' top links courses. Their 15th is frankly a bastard. You can barely see the angled fairway from the tee and you can't see the green from the fairway until you pass the two dunes that pinch the fairway about 100 yards out. I actually made Angus' hole easier by making it more visible on the approach to the green and taking out a lot of the humps in the fairway. I also angled the fairway left instead of right. They weren't the only holes inspired by real holes I have played. The 2nd was inspired by the 14th at Royal St Davids, the 6th was inspired by the 1st at Nefyn & District (Old nine), the 14th was inspired by the 7th at Prestatyn and features a fairway splitting into two different greens that none of you guys noticed and finally the 17th was inspired by the 16th and 17th at Conwy, though Conwy's holes are having a lot of the gorse taken out to accommodate spectators for next year's Curtis Cup. Finally, a couple of other things... the tees are designed with the clubs in mind so the front tees are for standard clubs, the blues are for pro clubs and blacks for master. That's why Kent was bombing past the bunkers with his master clubs. And the gorse on 17 is not the only gorse on the course, they are lots of other gorse. The 17th does stand out as there is so much of it clustered together. Also I noticed (Michael I think?) hit in the gorse and he noticed the water underneath. I put the water there to force players to take a penalty drop. There is no way a golfer would play out of gorse that thick and my decision stems from a video I saw of somebody playing out of the middle of the gorse on 17 on TGC2, putting it on the green and sinking the putt for birdie. Phew, long post! At least I've now been able to put my main thoughts across. Just wished I could have done it live!

Thanks Simon linkslover for the feedback, especially in such detail! Shows how valuable the designer's insight is on the show, really wish you could have been there too. Appreciate taking the time to show the real life inspirations for those holes!

Hey Gents, just wanted to say thanks for giving a play through to Payton's Run and for all the nice comments you made. I apologize I wasn't able to be there for the stream, Saturday afternoon's are almost always booked up with 2 kids. I was able to catch the archived stream late last night. A few things I thought I'd add/respond to:
1. Probably a beginner's error, but I actually never play tested the course on very firm/very fast so I was a little nervous to see how it would play. Definitely made those greens more slippery than intended.. and I knew that pin on the Par 3 #6 was gonna be rough.
2. The name of the course is inspired by Walter Payton, my favorite athlete of all time. In fact, hole #6 is lightly influenced by his infamous hill that he used to run for conditioning. I know one of you confessed to being an Eagles fan (Kent, I think?)... so due to recent history I would normally ban Eagles fans from the premises (and also all kickers). I'll make an exception for you.
Again, thanks for giving my course a spotlight. I've already broke ground on my second course so the feedback is very much appreciated.

Will try to give it a play this afternoon.... I can't emphasize how helpful these shows have been with the guest designers, the bits and pieces I have been picking up have done wonders... I really encourage any new designer or experienced designer looking to really improve and fine tune their skills and courses to tune in.
